  • footlick · I had some big win bets on Calidoscipoco, Flotilla, George Vancouver and Tapizar. And I had the Tapizar exacta. Lost some too, but overall it was a surprisingly profitable BC for me for a change. After the Turf, I thought any Euro would have to run an atypical race to contend. Aiden must have sensed that too because Joseph was riding them very agressively early. Euros tend to like to settle and make one big run. But, that is the risk when they ship here. And they know it. · 200 days ago ·

  • yukichan · Excelebration would have been my top choice had there been more time between this and his stunning performance at QE2. I think Aidan is asking quite a bit of him to face the likes of this BC field. He's one of the best horses racing and will indeed be quite the legend (and training job) if he can pull this off. Same goes for Animal Kingdom. Heart wants him to win, heads says probably not. · 201 days ago ·

  • travel_vic · another horsey statement based upon nothing but heresay: a horse leaves its best on the track. These are athletes. YOUNG ones at that. For a period of three years I studied charts of horses coming back from hard taxing stretch battles with comments like "all out, driving, etc," to see how they did next out. ONLY fillies showed any signs of "bounce" when the follow up was at least 7 to 10 days. Think hard: How did you respond when you were YOUNG at hard exercise after a few days rest? Fallacy that has been exposed. p. 95 Winning at the Races Dr. William Quirin. "suppose instead we study horses involved in a prolonged drive from the quarter pole to the wire...Maybe this woud be enough to tap a horse's energy reserves. BUT, as the following figures prove, the answer is an emphatic NO." · 201 days ago ·

  • ILuvTurfRacing · @yukichan, They said a few days ago that the BC Marathon would be Fame and Glory's final race, win, lose, or draw. But the last I had read about what they were saying about Excelebration was that if runs well in the BC Mile they might consider sending him to Dubai in March to run in the G1 Dubai Duty Free over 9f. • ILuvTurfRacing · @BrianZipse, I thought Excelebration's win today in the QE II Stakes was one of, if not the most impressive performance on the Champions Day card. Can't wait to see Excelebration and Wise Dan go at each other in the BC Mile. But I warn those who think Wise Dan will win the BC Mile easily that Excelebration's of much higher class and ability than the horses Wise Dan's been beating in America. It's fair to say Excelebration beat Cityscape today at Ascot just as impressively as Wise Dan beat him at Woodbine, IMO. · 214 days ago ·
