Winning the Belmont and Met Mile obviously will help Palace Malice in the breeding shed, but how much will it help Curlin as a sire? What horse will people take more notice of now as a Sire?

  • jay.harrison.52035772 · We can't forget that little guy named Top Billing also! · 721 days ago
  • goblin · I don't know an exact answer for that. Curlin is doing fine; check your stallion register and sire lists. Of course Smart Strike has been a sire with versatile offspring, and is still doing well. Dogwood is attempting to make PM as attractive as possible; do remember that Curlin is only a third crop sire, with PM in his first crop. · 721 days ago
Does anyone know when the last time a Sire sired the Met Mile winner, only to come back a week later and sire the Belmont winner? I think that would be unbelievable, but knowing it's just not likely to happen.

  • tmallios · Sorry, the sire was Mr. Prospector. But where Curlin can now one up him should it happen. The same sire would of accomplished the feat on the same day. · 725 days ago
  • jay.harrison.52035772 · Yes, to do it on the same day and then to have also sired back to back Belmont winners also. That would just be so cool for Curlin as a sire. · 725 days ago
Good day, both Debbie and PM won going away. jlp

ride on curlin baby! My derby pick!
I say Curlin
Which horse was better Curlin or Skip Away
  • Show All 6 Comments
  • goblin · john, I believe that Iselin was one of the occasions that Skip Away carried 130 lbs. or more. He and Curlin are my two favorite male horses of the past ~15 years. Both travelled throughout the U.S. for their races; Skip Away ran in Canada and Curlin ran in Dubai. Both carried 130 lbs. or more during their respective careers. They were both exceptional horses; very difficult for me to say which was better. http://www.racingmuseum.org/hall-of-fame/horses-view.asp?varID=406 · 786 days ago
  • amino998 · goblin's the expert on this one obviously, jonathan, deadheat. · 786 days ago
Curlin has one that has quietly won two races under the radar, that no one is talking about-Divercity Harbor. jlp
  • goblin · Hey, jimmy. Several of us have noticed Diversy Harbor; closes like a freight train. Sully and I have commented on her when she has raced. · 787 days ago
Some body help me out, in the power ranking how does P.M. go from 6th to 11th after winning a grade 2 race ? jlp

  • amino998 · Kinda like fools predicting race outcomes before post time :D · 808 days ago
  • Mary Z. · Not just horses given too high of ratings. Some give multiple grade 1 winners very low ratings just to change the rankings. When I have mentioned this practice I get replies such as, "It's a free country/website." or, "You are not the boss of me", and since I don't care to speak hick/hole, I am done with that conversation. · 808 days ago
People do not forget about ROC ride on curlin.Hes stilll in this. jlp
  • Northport · He's going to have to bring his A game next time out, because honestly I am not really seeing why he is getting so much praise · 811 days ago
  • goblin · I'm not sure he's getting praise per se, Northport. He's receiving a lot of scrutiny/attention on the Derby trail in large part because of that Ellis Park track record for 5 1/2 f. he set as a 2y/o. Many things have happened with him since that time, but his owners wanted him pointed to the Derby, and so it goes... No one wants him to do well in the Rebel more than I do (except maybe jimmy), but if not, I would like to see him developed at shorter distances--maybe as a miler. Classic distance may not be his forte, but as a Curlin, it was probably worth a try. · 811 days ago
Curlin has 7 runners going tomarrow, all the way from MSW to Stakes, good luck to all. jlp
Socialbug, Flash Forward and Smart Number all run tomarrow. Good luck ? jlp
Big weekend for Curlin with allot of good of runners and 2 of them are running today, Top Billing and Jay Eye See . jlp
Tapichur won the S.W. ,Strong Mandate got 2nd. and Ride on Curlin jlp
Hey Goblin,in Saturdays 7th race at Gulfstream Park People whose opinion i trust immensely have told me about a colt sired by Curlin. The name of the horse is Slip By. They said that he is really a very nice horse.Tough race though, there are 2 horses in the race that they pointed out that i like better, But this guy is a definate use,One to keep an eye on. Remeber the last Curlin runner they tipped out .None other than Charlie A.
Curlin just keeps on ROCKIN, Two more wins yesterday, it ganna be a bad year for the hatters !!! jlp
  • goblin · jimmy, Yes, he's doing well, but remember that the 3y/o stakes races are getting into full swing now. Should Midnight Hawk win the Lewis it will move Midnight Lute up to at least second on the list. Curlin will have stakes runners coming along soon; they all need to stay healthy! · 841 days ago
O.K. yesterday Danalin got 3rd. Today, Both Lady of Luck and Please Explain won. Please Explain was a Stakes winner. Very good guys ! ! ! ! jlp
Curls for girl broke her maiden yesterday and with that win that means that if Danalin wins today Curlin will pass $500,000.in winnings in one month ! GOOOOOOO Curlin ! ! ! jlp jlp
Does anyone know why Social Bug was scrached yesterday ? ? ?
  • Mary Z. · No. Figured they'd wait until she was lone speed, but that's just a guess. · 854 days ago
  • Sullivan · They realized she wants to go long? · 852 days ago
I'll say this now, if the runners stay health, Curlin going to be hard to beat (as a sire ) I mean !He has so many really good runners now !?!? jlp
  • goblin · He had an excellent weekend, jimmy! Over the past year or so there have been several vitriolic arguments on other sites with derogatory predictions made about his stud status. Several commenters, a few of them breeders, maintained that Curlin was not a precocious colt (not starting until Feb. of his 3y/o season), and therefore should not be expected to sire precocious offspring; but that his stats would improve over time. I think we saw some of that on Saturday as his older crop returned in stakes races. Of course Top Billing and a couple of maiden winners have done well over the past two weeks. Did you look at the rankings over the weekend? Right now he is #1 on the third crop list; he needs some big stakes wins to continue there, but so far 2014 is off to a positive start. · 853 days ago
  • Sullivan · Not too many big Midnight Lute contenders like last year, could get away with it · 852 days ago
