After looking back over the potential Eclipse candidates, I think Cluster of Stars deserves the Eclipse for best sprinter. The only other horse who IMO could win the award is Dance To Bristol. But Cluster of Stars beat her in hand going away in the Gallant Bloom. Freakishly Talented, and unfortunately we missed her at the BC.

  • EP Taylor · Both Groupie Doll and Mizdirection are both tremendous fillies. Groupie Doll I would say no, because of her PP's this year. Groupie doll had two wins, one a G3, and one the BC F&M Sprint. Mizdirection probably will win the award and only a BC win seperates her from Cluster of stars and Dance to Bristols PP's. Mizdirection's win over the boys will probably get her the award. · 108 days ago ·

  • jayr · I can see how it may have been read different than I intended. But OK, Mr. High Sheriff: In lieu of having you put words in my mouth, how's this: However it came about, COS retirement is a win-win all around. Good for the owners, trainer, horse racing (future star babies), and, most especially, the horse. A brilliant filly that couldn't possibly have been handled any better. Perfection. That's my position; always has been. · 146 days ago ·

It's being reported that undefeated NY-bred Cluster of Stars retired. Connections weren't happy with how she returned after a workout in prep for the Go For Wand.

  • tmallios1 · Maybe that is just a story, like i said they do not need to put every single detail out there. Just have faith in the connections that they know what they are doing.I am sorry,i am not going after you. Please do not take it that way.But all i have been reading lately here is people feeling bad for horses that had to be put down.Well maybe this was a preventive retirement,i know the connections. It is this nonsense going around that if a horse is being retired,it is for greed and depriving everyone of watching them.Maybe the people making the decisions are a little more informed than the public. · 148 days ago ·

  • cab2536 · Jimmy -- there was no disgrace in how your mare (Willet) ran. She ran a terrific race -- the winner (Cluster) is just a very nice filly. You're a gentleman and a scholar. Happy to know you and to be considered your friend. · 178 days ago ·
