  • travel_vic · A sustained horse runs fairly even fractions so in putting two horses together with the same final times, one an early/presser and the other a sustained/presser, the early would be out front a good bit of the way as the sustained gained fraction by fraction running their STYLE and beatend lenghts would mean nothing between them · 68 days ago ·
  • JohnNicoletti1 · I would underestimate Candy Boy's distance and pedigree issue'sCandy Ride,Ride The Rails, and Cryptoclearnce, blood lines will allow him to negotiate the Derby distance. He has a Hall of Famer rider,Gary Stevens, who is the master at getting a horse to relax. If he remains healthy and sound, i believe he will be a legitimate contender for the Roses in May. · 65 days ago ·

  • hannahWTC · I have never been super impressed with him. I am doubting his ability to run on dirt. And the 2 horses I had my money on in the CashCall had rough trips (Kobes back and Tap it Rich). He most likely will not last going a mile and a quarter. My choice for next years derby is Strong Mandate and Kobes back · 119 days ago ·
  • https://www.facebook.com/jake.bennett.756 · I love it! The fact that you mentioned he could have the X-Factor gene! Anyone who loves this sport will be cheering for the horse because he is a superstar! No one finished races like he did last year, I know that he could be an excellent sprinter, but he proved alot going the distance he did in the Cashcall. He had plenty left in the tank and I honestly think he will be just fine on dirt. · 86 days ago ·

  • equineplay · Two races, looks like the real deal. Hope he doesn't peak too early. It would be a good west coast rep. · 156 days ago ·
  • tmallios1 · He is supposed to look good on the poly, let him show the ability to handle the dirt. Then maybe he can generate some excitement. Just like all the Candy Rides, except a little bit of Sidneys Candy who fizzled on the dirt ,Misremembered who was a nice horse and Chocolate Candy who is good. This sire has not done anything on the dirt. I for one will wait this guy out. Like i said, he is supposed to run over the carpet or turf. · 156 days ago ·

  • CauseForConcern · Laurie, I have not been one to anticipate yearling sales in the past, but your article drew some interest. I was disappointed in the early retirement of Majesticperfection. He had beaten the eventual BC Sprint Champ, Big Drama, with ease, prior to his retirement due to injury. He was bought by Airdrie Stables, and, I think, this might be his first crop. Did you, by chance, spot any offspring of his at this sale? · 208 days ago ·

  • KyOaksRunner · Twirling Candy should win this easy if he runs his race this time. It looked like he got intimidated and dropped back in the SA Handicap with all the bumping going on. · 1052 days ago ·
  • DeadHeat · I think he rebounds as well. The sharp take back in the SAH may have been a combo of just having nothing left after playing pinball and intimidation. It's hard to say who was the true cause of all of that. GOD did shift out and brushed him, TC way overreacted. He should do much better this time out. · 1052 days ago ·

  • DeadHeat · Bearing our can indicate inexperience also. Most horses running in the Derby exert an effort that they have never had to do before, and bearing out in the stretch is also not uncommon, especially for a horse who was in his fifth lifetime start. He got ahead and probably lost focus, which a lot of horses will do. · 1068 days ago ·
  • Mike in SB · I think he has a big shot at the Triple Crown. The Preakness winner usually comes out of the Derby and Mucho Macho Man looks like the only horse from the Derby that could beat him. The Belmont will be tough, but it seems to be a riders race and Animal Kingdom will have a great jockey for the Belmont This could be the year! · 1067 days ago ·
