Looking at this one, I can't help but think, if they really want to try dirt then why not the Marathon? I get the blinkers since he does seem to hang, and who knows if the dirt will move him up, but I think 10f will be too short. We know he's long winded, so i doubt the marathon distance will bother him, if anything it may enhance his chances. Marathon seems to be a much more logical choice.
  • gelded1 · This horse hasn't looked good for a while now. Dirt isn't his best surface. What puzzles me is he ran one of his best races on the all weather track at Keeneland in the Bluegrass stakes and won and they have failed to run again on the synthetic tracks. I just think this one has been run in over his head and his will to win just isn't there. Running in the classic on dirt will be a waste of time for him in my opinion. · 209 days ago ·

  • gelded1 · I think his best surface is synthetics but someone failed to realize this fact.He won the Bluegrass stakes on synthetics and failed to even run on another track with the same surface. Three Chimneys purchased a "significant interest" in Brilliant Speed prior to his third place in the Sword Dancer. I was looking forward to this colt running next year. Hope he still does, but he's desired for his second career as a stallion, having the late Dynaformer as his sire.
