What the Horse Racing Nation is saying about Algorithms...

Looked like the real deal this winter. He is till on the farm and not back in training. Hoping to see him at Saratoga.
When is this horse running again? Thi is my favorite of the year thusfar
Where next? Preakness?
Javier Castellano could not be blamed for thinking about what might have been. • PomDeTerre · Of course he was carried wide on the first turn- he broke from the 12 hole. What else would you expect? That he made up the ground and won by 3 lengths was even more impressive. Maker also gets points for the equipment changes- the figure 8 gave Dominguez more control, and removing the blinkers appeared to settle him in. · 78 days ago ·

  • icyhotboo · Maan=Amanda=man=daughter got to throw him in. Hansen on paper at least lays over this field. He had a bad race which wasn't really that bad, those fractions. I'll try for the tri and super using him on top and since this is graded stakes with at least 8 entries my lucky #s are in play $2 ex- 38,26,17,72,12-1,12-13, 28,47 and a $10 win on the #8 whoever that is · 85 days ago ·

Watching yesterday’s Fountain of Youth Stakes was a pure joy. Union Rags looked every bit the way an early Kentucky Derby is supposed to look. Freak is a term thrown around way to often in the sport of horse racing…..after Sunday’s Fountain of Youth, any doubts about a certain Michael Matz trainee and his “freak” status, should have been erased. • Winplacsho · I don't think there's any doubt Union Rags should be at the top of the heap right now, but a freak? I'm just not sure he really beat anything. He beat Discreet Dancer, who never routed before & was loose on the lead in both his starts sprinting. Other than that I think the field had mainly allowance horses at best. · 89 days ago ·

  • DeadHeat · Winplacesho, there has not been a race, except for possibly the Holy Bull, that anyone can say that the winner beat a field of top flight horses. Even that race has things that people can nit pick, like Hansen needed the race/was too fresh, etc, or that some of the others didn't enjoy the sloppy going. Also, remember that UR was coming off a 4 month layoff and had every right to not turn in that type of eye catching performance. He sat off of slow splits and came home quick enough to make a decent time out of it. · 88 days ago ·

Race horses are like professional athletes, thet get injured all the time. To suggest Pletcher is doing something wrong, or different from any other big name trainer is a stretch. If you want to dive head first into paranoia go right ahead, I'll keep betting on Pletcher trained horses, and cashing in.

  • kedez2012 · Please don't confuse bad luck with criminal intent. Here's a good question: do trainers often win the derby in successive years? Is there a trainer out there that has won the derby each time one of his horses ran? If anything it's just unfortunate that a trainer like Pletcher has such bad luck with derby horses. So please, stop trying to vilify him for absolutely no reason. · 89 days ago ·

  • kedez2012 · El Padrino and Union Rags are my top two at the moment, but I'm not sure which is #1. They both took such huge steps in the right direction in their last races--UR finally behaved himself down the lane and EP won a gutsy duel over a dry track. Todd Pletcher does it again, he is an overrated trainer and his top horses keep getting hurt. He has to be doing something wrong, or this would not happen.
Another Pletcher trainee off the derby trail, the first few times it was just bad luck, but now its getting old. I would think a high class trainer like Mr. Pletcher would know how to take better care of his horses, so for now i'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Try avoiding those broken mirrors Todd :)
