gelded1 · Borel controlled the pace with T.C.I. and was all out to hold the others off. I'll give them credit for the victory but I'm not sure they can win at 11/4 miles in a big field and with more pace to the race. Gulfstream favors speed and stalkers but Union Rags needed this race for the extra distance and experience in general and that coupled with the not so great trip and position Julian L.provided him with today. I still think he's the 1 to beat in Kentucky the first weekend in May. He showed me some grit today the way he finished the race . · 57 days ago ·

logrezzio · Even tho Union Rags did not win it will be great for us that know he is the best. Maybe we will get 7-1 like we got on Barbaro on Derby day when the media chatter was all about touting horses that got lucky in prior races. As for Borel, KD jockey that has only won it on a sloppy track. Derby comes up fast Borel no where to be found. Hope the two one-dimensional runners Take Charge Indy and Hansen take all the betting action so the bettors can clean up with UR. Floridaf · Personally, I liked what I saw from Union Rags. Once he had room to run, he was gunning for Take Charge Indy and almost had Reveron at the wire for the place. Take Charge Indy got a very nice ride from Borel, but had Union Rags not been bottled up, I think we can all agree that it would have been a very different race. · 55 days ago ·

travel_vic · EVERY rider I have spoken with for over the years says the same thing: horses respond to the first few hits and then noen afterward...In fact many sulk after repeated punshment. Borell has ZERO finesse and beat porr Rachel Alexandra not less thna 19 times in the Woodward....and she was NEVER the same again. · 55 days ago ·

larooski · you must not have spoken with a single rider I have seen in the past 20 years because they ALL hit their horse more than" the first few hits and none afterward" if needed. Rachel wasn't the same after the Woodward because Borel hit her so much? I thought she would only respond to the first few hits then none afterward. If that's the case she wasn't responding to Borel after those first few hits, she was doing it on her own. She sure wasn't sulking. Borel has no finesse? He finessed his way to 3 Derby's giving great rides every time. Rachel wasn't the same because she had such a hard year. Many horses regress from 3 to 4. Even more so when their 3yo campaign was very demanding as Rachels was. · 55 days ago ·

After the first few hits she wasn't responding to Borel whipping her. Hows is it Borel's fault if she wasn't responding to him after the first few hits? All that stuff you say about whipping not mattering after the first few hits proves it wasn't Borels fault because she was no longer responding to him, she was doing it on her own. According to you him whipping her after the first few hits had nothing to do with how she ran so how can you blame Borel if she was doing it on her own at the end. · 55 days ago ·

To say it was Borel's fault that she was 'gutted" because he whipped her too much then turning around and saying horses don't respond to the whip after the first few hits is a total contradiction. Do you really not see that your making both arguments at the same time?? On one hand your saying Rachel was "gutted" because Borel hit her 19 times. icyhotboo · If the odds pemit I'm going to throw in a 3/6/8 tri box. UR just needs a prep and EP needs 1st or 2nd, #3 has a lot of upside 2nd off layoff and EP being the fastest horse with about the same LP. Michael Matz may just be there for a tune up for KD even though the purse is big. On a personal note sadly I didn't win the lottery, I didn't even want 1st second for a million - taxes would've been just fine.
