  • DavidM9999 · You said CC has faced better and his accomplishments tower over SB. Obviously, yes since SB missed the TC season. The question was who IS the better 3 year old. I suppose CC “IS” the better 3 year old but who will be the better race horse in the near future can be up for discussion. SB is undefeated and shown some brilliance. He is a fresher animal than CC who has to recover from the toll of the grueling TC. Some don’t, just look thru the recent results of horses running in all 3 legs of the TC. If they would face each other in the next 60 days at 8.5-9F I would lean to SB at better odds. Hopefully they get to settle it on the track. Sidebar - Who you got in a future Coburn v. Rome matchup? · 19 hours ago ·

  • Chicago · So DavidM I agree with you. As of right now, CC has faced the tougher competition. If he and SB squared off in the near future, then the question of which horse is better would be resolved on the track! Coburn v Rome? That I would pay to see! · 16 hours ago ·

Dan galloped today at Keeneland training track. Per Lopresti: "It won't be too long before we can get a breeze into him," and adds that a return in the Fourstardave August 9 is "very likely" for the two time HOTY.
Charles LoPresti reports 2-time reigning HOY Wise Dan been back in his barn at #Kee for 3 days, all's well. Leaves abt. July 12 for Saratoga, according to DRF

Wise Dan, the reigning two-time Horse of the Year, could return to racing at Saratoga if things continue to go well for the 7-year-old gelding as he recovers from emergency colic surgery, if he does, it's 50-50 for either turf or dirt for him, according to DRF
Wise Dan is jogging at trainer Charlie LoPresti's farm; if all goes well, heads back to Keeneland base soon, then Saratoga mid-July. If all goes well, potential spots for Wise Dan incl. Fourstardave H. on 8/9, or waiting for Bernard Baruch H. 8/30. According to DRF

  • buckpasser · I would assume a surgery without the need for a resection would definitely be an advantage. But anesthesia affects animals differently too. Knocks some out for a loop, others not. I had a horse who had such an extensive resection that he had almost no small intestine left. He came back to the show ring, but was kept at the three ft level instead of his former 4 ft plus level before the surgery. · 21 days ago ·

  • tmallios1 · Why would they possibly try a foreign surface at this point. It is obvious over the past 2 races that he has lost a step on his Preffered surface. Running on the Dirt now would be counter productive. At this stage, they will protect the horse and be extra careful where they place him. To run on the dirt and get destroyed by the Dirt horses would be embarasing. · 67 days ago ·
