Hello Fellow WTC Fans. I have come to a recent conclusion on "our" boy. Lucas and Horton are just running Will around a track. They aren't trying to win, but infact they are training him and getting him ready for the BIG one. Breeders Cup Classic. So, from this point forward I will not net "Our" boy. But come Breerds Cup Day? I will hammer him to win!

  • furlonger · Cedar - I was sitting at the wire in Churchill with my girlfriend just mins before the 8th race, and I had my face lowered into my hands. My girlfriend asked me if I was o.k., I told her that I was saying a prayer that Will had a safe trip. That said, I am concerned as well for the scheduling of the horse, and I don't want them to hurt him by running him . But, this is the nature of racing? Yes? · 1009 days ago
  • Jay S. · Yep furlonger, these early races are not the end prize for sure. · 1009 days ago
Nathan just found out that i will be heading to the land of Howies little boy to see the G-Men take on the transplanted Rams on 12/21.
Am I the only one bothered that Untapable is ranked better then him?

  • goblin · ekindy's comment does not mean Close Hatches would be the best active horse if the NTRA rankings are used. California Chrome is the highest ranked 3y/o; Palace Malice is the highest ranked active thoroughbred. Impossible to discuss this without a common point of reference. http://www.ntra.com/en/news-media/press-releases/2014/6/9/ntra-top-thoroughbred-poll-june-9-2014/ · 1012 days ago
what is next for this colt according to lucas is the whitner where he will face palice malice normandy invasion and more than likely moonshine mouilin and by that time lea will be back in the game real good move

  • cleclair1994 · But even saying that, in my opinion, I don't see him in top three against the horses that look to be pointing there. · 1012 days ago

Exactly how tall is he??
I thought That WTC ran a great race on saturday. It was exciting to see him run like he is used to running.

  • LAZMANNICK · I think that Saez fits him. Castellano would be an excellent fit and so would John Velasquez. THose two seem to be able to keep a horse much closer to the early pace and yet not really use them until they have to. · 1012 days ago
  • hannahWTC · Totally agree Laz. It was nice to see him look like himself again. Most of the stretch he was passing tired horses and then it was like the last 50 or 100 yds he remembered why he was there. I think Saez fits him well but if not him, I would say Rosario, he is a great power rider who knows how to push a horse down the stretch like WTC needs · 1012 days ago
He proved all you wrong. Everyone thought he sucked because he didn't have a good run in the Alysheba

  • Jay S. · Looked to me that Will really took-off when Stevens went to the left hand and Will changed leads. Too bad it was 50 yards from the line. I'm proud of my boy. What's his 2014 record, a win, 4 seconds, and one off the board? I'm scratching my head as to where those results are seen by ao many to be so lousy. · 1012 days ago
  • Jay S. · *so many* · 1012 days ago
if he was the same horse as in the BC classic he sould have won bith his last outings by lengths
well hell we all have been saying that give him two months off but lucas wont Watch the horse now when he comes to the top of the lane has know desire to blow on by get to the center of the heard and stalls thats herd mentality and thats not good unless he rests he will burn completley out
Gary Stevens said he struggled early but found a decent rhythm and seemed to settle more during the backstretch but lost lots of ground on turn and still was 100% into running. But Gary said much improved mindset from the Alysheba. Has D. Wayne said anything about how he came out and what is next?

  • blueyedhusky · Did you stop reading at "too old"? I was talking specifically about riding WTC. IEven past his prime, he's still a great rider, but I don't think he's what WTC needs. I also think WTC might be sharper at the gate given a bit of a freshener, or they could try blinkers on him again. · 1013 days ago
  • travel_vic · rider adapts to the HORSE as much as they can NOT THE OTHER WAY around · 1013 days ago
According to bloodhorse, WTC emerged from the race great and will take "serious" consideration into the G1 Whitney at Saratoga, oooohhh boy

  • UnionRagsRules · It isn't for another six weeks though, that makes me feel a bit better. · 1014 days ago
I never really liked Saez on WTC, I felt like he waited too long to fire and it cost him the breeders cup but Gary is even worse. He keeps him way too far back and expects a Zenyatta like run, that isn't WTC's style
How did he do? Did he look like his old self?

  • travel_vic · no, many many steeplechasers have all of these beat, EASILY · 1014 days ago
  • Exterminator · I was thinking along the lines of flat racing, the steeplechasers still carry 150+. I have a lot of respect for the steeplechasers, as it is hard enough on my horses to complete the XC course in a hand gallop, I can't imagine how difficult it is for them to jump at a flat-out gallop. · 1014 days ago
He came up short
i think moonshine moulin has a great chance to spoil the party
does anyone here know the post time for the Stephan Foster Handicap?
on May 29, Will Take Charge worked 6F at Churchill Downs on Fast Dirt in 1:12.20 b finishing 1/2.
  • Sullivan · This could only have taken more out of him. Golden Ticket or Mylute in the Stephen Foster? · 1031 days ago
