  • ILuvTurfRacing · @paul.nathan.946, I read the story also and agree that a soft ground Arc would've suited Wild Coco right down to the ground. She stays all day long and she ran awfully well against a very talented filly in Treve in the G1 Prix Vermeille. You look at Wild Coco's last 3 or 4 wins and they all came at distances of 14f or further. At the very least would've liked to have seen Wild Coco got to run in the British Champion F&M Stakes or Long Distance Cup later in the month before being retired. · 971 days ago
Lady Cecil says she's waiting on the weather to see where to send Wild Coco this weekend (if she goes at all). Right now Wild Coco is entered in both the Irish St. Leger and the Prix Vermeille. Hopefully we'll get to see her race in one of the two races!
Every time I see this mare race I come away liking her even more than I did before she went into the race. Wild Coco is very underrated IMO, and she's a really tough and durable mare too that can run all day long. I'm not certain if she's had injuries at some point during her career when racing for the late Sir Henry Cecil or not. but she's still a very lightly raced mare to be a 5yo. Today gave her back to back wins in the G3 Lillie Langtry Stakes at 14f, but it was only her 8th career start. She's compling a terrific record which now stands at 8-5-1-0. Today was her 2013 seasonal debut. Wild Coco hadn't raced since last September when she beat a really tough field of fillies & mares to win the G2 Park Hill Stakes at Doncaster, a field that included the likes of Ascot Gold Cup winner Estimate, St. Simon Stakes winner Hazel Lavery, Galipot, Cracking Lass, Ambivalent, and Kailani.

  • ILuvTurfRacing · @jonquil, I'm also a big fan of Wild Coco. I've liked her since Sir Henry unveiled her at Newmarket and then Haydock back in 2011. You're absolutely right about her class, too. Very classy mare, and I love the way she's shown the ability to stay trips up to 14f and even a bit further consistently. I'd love to see Wild Coco get a crack at the boys sometime down the road over the 14f trip. Maybe the G1 Irish St. Leger? · 1032 days ago
  • jonquil · @ILuvTurf, I've been a Wild Coco fan for about the same time, then! I'd love to see her in the Irish St. Leger. Heck, she's beaten Estimate *twice* on two different tracks - there's no question she's quality. The only reason anyone else would underrate her is probably because she's so lightly raced and she's usually pitted against fillies. · 1032 days ago
