What the Horse Racing Nation is saying about Vita Nova...

FRANKEL continued his preparation for the Qipco Queen Elizabeth II Stakes on October 15 with an impressive piece of work under big-race jockey Tom Queally on Friday morning.Unbeaten in eight career starts, Frankel worked over 7½f on the Watered Gallop in Newmarket at around 6.30am with stablemates H...Read More
  • medlocke · I just finished watching an interview with Sir Henry Cecil that's posted on the Racing Post web-site. Cecil was interviewd by Racing Post while they were showing footage of work's for Frankel, Twice Over, and Midday in prepartion for the Champion's Day card at Ascot coming up in October. Cecil had this to say about Twice Over and Midday, and I quote: There was little between the two on the day in the Juddmonte International Stakes at York that we've decided to run the two together again in the G1 Champion Stakes. That race will be Twice Over's final race before he's reitred to stud. Because he doesn't go well enough on conventional dirt to bring him over for the BC Classic. The Champion Stakes could also possibly be Midday's final race? Although she does have an entry for the BC F&M Turf, and we're going to see first how well she comes out of the race at Ascot before we decide whether or not she'll go to Churchill Downs? If Midday does go to the BC F&M Turf? That will be her final race, for sure. End quote!! · 936 days ago ·

BLUE BUNTING won a third Group 1 and a first against older horses with a gutsy effort on the Knavesmire to fend off the persistent challenge of the Sir Henry Cecil-trained Vita Nova. The dual Classic winner was sent off the 11-4 favourite and was subsequently cut into 6-1 second favourite for more Cl...Read More
  • medlocke · This was a great race!! A real duel in the final furlong between English 1000 Guineas and Irish Oaks winner, Blue Bunting. And Henry Cecil's lightly raced 4yr.old daughter of Galileo, Vita Nova. Wonder of Wonders also ran a very respectable 3rd in this race. Vita Nova really went down fighting. I thought she ran an incredible race given that this was her first ever start in G1 company, and only her 6th career start. Godolphin have to be over the moon about how Blue Bunting has performed for the stable this season. I would imagine. Ironic how fate is. Because I really wonder if we would've even seen Blue Bunting in the Epsom, Irish, or Yorkshire Oaks had Godolphin's star 2yr.old filly from 2010, White Moonstone, stayed healthy? · 975 days ago ·
