Was a sad day when he retired.
Twirling Candy has also sired his first foal, a bay filly out of the A.P. Indy mare Silent Moccasins. Born January 13.
I think Twirling Candy is a tough SOB....happy retirement handsome !!
John Sadler mishandled him like he did with Switch.

  • ruffed grouse · icyhotboo- I stopped training 5 years ago when my mother was diagnosed with cancer. Her time is near now and my mind is elsewhere. I will look you up at a later date to continue our discussion regarding the weight issue. Thank you in advance for understanding. · 994 days ago
  • icyhotboo · @ruffed grouse, so sorry. May god be with you and give you both peace. · 994 days ago
Does anyone know if he will be retiring after the BC?

  • Mary Z. · icy, That prediction of yours didn't come true--about Awesome Gem. He's going for hos fourth BC appearance and had a very good year, especially considering his age. I just love the Candy boys. Love the speed they possess, even though that gets the best of Sidney's at times, when he burns out from his own heat. · 996 days ago
  • icyhotboo · Awesome Gem kind of seems like the same kind of comment I made about Twirling Candy which was my point. I was wrong, I hope I'm wrong here but TC has burned me 3 times, it's personal between me and him. · 996 days ago
I Really wish they would race him in against goldikova in the mile or take him to the sprint
Check the weights, Twirling Candy at equal weights can get 10 furlongs

  • Mary Z. · Okay, I see the two fast 5f. works. Did Mr. Sadler make the announcement about him going to the Mile? Good decision, imo, if that's his goal. Love the speed! I won't deny it. · 1005 days ago
  • ruffed grouse · Twirling Candy always works that way and grade one horses work fast but the last I saw was a 5/8 work in 59 which really is no big deal for him. Look for his works to stretch out and still be quick as I believe he will run in the classic. · 1005 days ago
Love this horse (:
Will Twirling Candy be a real Breeders' Cup threat after missing the Goodwood due to a bruised foot?
  • RamonDimas · well his good but he hasnt won a race to qualify for the BReEDERS CUP CLASSIC.maybe for the breeders cup mile · 1020 days ago
May likely go to the Dirt Mile after being trained up to the Cup. But hopefully he makes the Classic and get good odds because he runs well fresh, let's see what happens.
Now that I think about it more and more I will like to see tcandy take on Goldikova in the mile to me he has a huge chance at beating Goldikova... Who agrees???
Twirling Candy will creep up under the radar to the BC Classic after he romps in the Goodwod. He will also be at a good price because he will be on east coast grounds.

  • Zenyatta-Perfection Personified · He is not a happy horse at 1 1/4. His talent almost brings him through, but he is not going to make the breakthrough against all the best horses in the world. · 1031 days ago
  • ghelguera · We'll see what happens after the Goodwood with Twirling Candy but main goal is to stay healthy. I would also like to see a new rider aboard because Rosario has not impressed me with the rides he's given him....put GoGo on TC Sadler perfect fit! · 1031 days ago
can get a mile and a quarter.. And seems to be improving. I think he has a good chance in the BC Classic.

  • mrsmaryzinke · That's not his best distance though. He can equal or break records between 7f. and 8.5 f., or maybe on turf, 9f. would be a possibility, but 10f. will always be very tough for T.C. and I am a faithful fan of his. Acclamation does not like dirt, and as impressive as his win was today, he should go back to turf and not go for the BCC on Churchill dirt. · 1047 days ago
  • footlick · Twirling Candy is more tractable than Precisionist but equally as versatile. 10 furlongs was a difficult distance for Precisionist also. I hope they don't try to point Acclimation to the BCC. · 1046 days ago
Maybe third time the charm for this horse at 1 1/4. But I won't be betting this horse for sure, he's always favorite.
josephe-time to start thinking about the breeders cup mile..peace

  • yukichan · I still have hopes for Twirling Candy in the BC mile... · 1072 days ago
  • arazi · Think Quality Road here. Twirling Candy's best race is not 10 furlongs. Is that a limitation? Not necessarily. But I think the point is this: I wouldn't want to take First Dude against Twirling Candy at 8 or 9f. And on a moderate pace he could control, Twirling Candy could dominate at 10f. And if he can't control it, he'll run more 2nds and 3rds at 10f (like QR). But TC is a beast at a mile or 9f. · 1072 days ago
With the lost at the classic distance and with plenty things to do with this talented 4yr old what should the connections do? Most likely he will be pointed to run in the pacific classic and try to gain an entry to the classic but I think it will be fun if they took him to the sprint division, or the bc turf mile. If he dose not win the pacific classic and they still wanna try to gain entrance to the classic I think the connections will point him to the goodwood. If a mile and 1/4 dosent work out there is always the dirt mile. Good luck twirling candy and hopefully we get to see you on breeders cup day!!
  • TimSmith · I agree , I think Twirling Candy is a Breeders cup horse just thay have to pick the right race. · 1095 days ago
OK THAT WAS A GREAT RACE FROM TWIRLING CANDY BUT IT SEEMS HE WAS GETTING TIRED AND THATS WHY HE END UP 3RD
Shut the HATERS UP! Twirling Candy puts himself as the TOP Handicap horse in the country tomorrow.
