What the Horse Racing Nation is saying about Twice Over...

I laugh at those who say Zenyatta never beat any quality horses! Twice Over is as classy as they come!

Nineteen up, nineteen down. Zenyatta has done it all. Her quest for a pair of perfect 10s comes in a few weeks at Churchill Downs with the world watching in the Breeders' Cup Classic. • medlocke · I just finished watching an interview with Sir Henry Cecil that's posted on the Racing Post web-site. Cecil was interviewd by Racing Post while they were showing footage of work's for Frankel, Twice Over, and Midday in prepartion for the Champion's Day card at Ascot coming up in October. Cecil had this to say about Twice Over and Midday, and I quote: There was little between the two on the day in the Juddmonte International Stakes at York that we've decided to run the two together again in the G1 Champion Stakes. That race will be Twice Over's final race before he's reitred to stud. Because he doesn't go well enough on conventional dirt to bring him over for the BC Classic. The Champion Stakes could also possibly be Midday's final race? Although she does have an entry for the BC F&M Turf, and we're going to see first how well she comes out of the race at Ascot before we decide whether or not she'll go to Churchill Downs? If Midday does go to the BC F&M Turf? That will be her final race, for sure. End quote!! · 135 days ago ·

TWICE OVER gave jockey Ian Mongan the biggest success of his career as he caught stablemate Midday in a Sir Henry Cecil-trained one-two finish to the Juddmonte International Stakes. • orangeman88 · Great call on Sea Moon, that was impressive. I think he has a great shot in the St. Ledger. Seville just doesn't have the killer instinct. I think Midday also hangs a bit when she gets the lead. How many times does she seem to be on her way to victory only to get passed at the wire? She is a great mare but I would never trust her to win. · 175 days ago ·

  • medlocke · This year's Dubai World Cup really served to remind me how much I truly miss the race being run on the conventional dirt at Nad Al Sheba. Victoire Pisa had to come 5 or 6 wide to forge to the front early just to inject any pace at all into the race, as it was run at a terrible dottle. That move turned out to be the best tactical move of the race. As Victoire Pisa took the lead and never looked back. · 318 days ago ·

There's a paragraph on Dubairacenight.com's web-site posted by Pat Cummings that there's rumors in Dubai that Twice Over bled following his win in Rd. 3 of the Al Maktoum Challenge at Meydan. The rumors have not been confirmed or denied? But I don't for one minute believe that Henry Cecil, one of the greatest trainers in the sport, would still run Twice Over in the Dubai World Cup if he had really bled following his last race.
The Dubai Racing Club released the potential fields for the seven thoroughbred races at Meydan on 26 March.  Dubai World Cup probables: (Alphabetical order) Bold Silvano, Buena Vista, Cape Blanco, Fly Down, Gio Ponti, Gitano Hernando, Monterosso, Musir, Poet’s Voice, Prince Bishop, Richard’s Ki...Read More

Won the Maktoum Challenge R3. Give a lot of credit to the ride of Tom Queally who made an early move that proved to be the winning one. This was such a smart move because of the slow pace the prevented closers from really kicking late.

  • ajump08 · medlocke, just like the Derby these trainers for the most part don't want a peak performance before the big day. Godolphin doesn't wan't to overdue it with him, but I do question if Mendip as good at 10 furlongs as 8 furlongs. He should definitely win his race though with division leader Skysurfer skipping this one and training up to the Godolphin Mile. · 343 days ago ·

I really like this horse on the turf. And he also came up big on the pro-ride against Zenyatta and Gio Ponti in the 09' B.C. Classic. But I just don't get the feeling that he's going to be that big a player in this year's Dubai World Cup. He just seemed to really bog down on the tapeta surface at Meydan when Queally ask him for run in the 2010 DWC. I guess it's possible that could've been a one time thing? Time will surely tell. As Twice Over goes in Thursday's Al Maktoum Challenge Rd. 3 against a field that's nearly as tough as this year's DWC field will be. The likes of Bold Silvano, Musir, and Mendip. If Twice Over doesn't come up big in Rd. 3 of the Al Maktoum Challenge? I couldn't really consider backing him with any kind of confidence on DWC night.

  • footlick · I agree. The Tapetsa course was really sticky on WC Day. Both Gio's and Richard's Kid's jocks said it was like trying to close in quicksand. But this year they are prepping Twice Over in Dubai first, to get a run already in him on the course. Anxious to see how he does. I would't throw him out, but a 10 furlong turf race inspires more confidence. · 344 days ago ·
