  • Buckpasser · Jay. Great story. At least you were the background for the pictures with Onward John. · 970 days ago
  • Jay S. · Yeah, hopefully. John was prancin' around like Secretariat. Stole the whole scene. :) · 970 days ago
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bndBiRuhOtg SSilence, I pasted it here also so it would be easy to find in the future. Still can't get over it. Now that was a racehorse. I got to see him win the '86 Oaklawn Handicap. If you can work your magic to find a link for that race, I'd be most appreciative. :)

  • Jay S. · Just got a reply from EA Ranches. Turkoman is still doing very well and even gets to a jog now and then. Big T will be 32 years old in a couple of weeks! · 985 days ago
  • travel_vic · One of these days I will have to hunt through all the negatives as I am sure I took shots of the major runners in each race that day: Precisionist, Skywalker and others. I know I got Dehere, Arcagnes and others · 985 days ago
Who is it Jay S who likes this one? Found that stretch run of the Tallahasse...Going to a new racing venue for a week, but can transfer it to DVD when back after the 9th...E-mail and I could get it to you

  • Jay S. · Looking forward to seeing it when you get back. Thanks in advance, tv. · 1181 days ago
What a horse Turkoman was. Raced 22 times, and was in the money 19 times. Now that is what i call a racehorse. I believe he is 31 years old. I remember him well, when he raced against Gate Dancer, the Jack VanBerg hooded horse.

  • travel_vic · I have to take two old printers to the storage locker and will try to find that 86 Anita program and will photograph the Classic page and post it to Turkoman's page...I recall his silks were yellow and brown? correct?? · 1223 days ago
  • travel_vic · I saw the Longacres Mile that year and we did well backing Laffit's ride on Skywalker..It was a repeat of the mile only a tad further...He just waited behing the speed and struck late.....Turkoman came on but too late. · 1223 days ago

  • kaitlinefree1 · Alydar was actually a great sire, he doesn't get very much credit. · 1269 days ago
It appears Turkoman is still alive in California. That's great. Did not know he was the broodmare sire of Point Given, Hard Spun, and Colonel John. I saw him win the Oaklawn Handicap over Gate Dancer, Red Attack, and Bold Tradition. That was Gate Dancer's final race.

  • jay s. · Sorry rafi and Waya...didn't see your responses till now. How else can I say it...I LOVE Turkoman. He WAS a "Stretch-runnin'-monster!!!" I must admit, in the '86 Oaklawn Handicap it was like he knew it was Gate Dancer's last race and didn't want to show him up too bad. · 1280 days ago
  • jay s. · Peppermint Paddy, also didn't see your post until right now, Thank you. I'm so glad he's still aliive, as well. · 1280 days ago

  • travel_vic · ran the MOST amamzing 6 furlongs I have seen at old Hialeah coming from 15 out of it down the lane.....A limited horse (could not handle Santa ANita at all) but an interesting one no doubt. · 1445 days ago
  • travel_vic · Massive individual when he raced. Compared him to Precisionist at the Breeder's Cup at Anita in '86 and he was HUGE. · 1445 days ago
