  • rafirox · bodemeister will run in the preakness, y would he not? He obviously ran the best race in the derby. He stayed up front despite the fact that the fractions were blistering!!!! And Trinniberg cant run 9.5 furlongs. I dont think he can run past 8.0 · 19 days ago ·

  • Floridaf · Part of what helped Bodemeister so much was how fast the track was. If the track had not been mimicking Gulfstream, Bode might not have lasted that long. BUT, with that in mind, Bode ran a tremendous race, and I was extremely impressed with him. That was definitely the best 2nd place finish I've seen. · 19 days ago ·

  • saratoga john · Watched the race several times again this morning. Guiterrez made two key moves with I'll Have Another. Both occurred at the top of the stretch. One at the start, one coming for home. The first was getting him out of that 2nd gate to a wide open space through the stretch so he could relax the horse through the clubhouse turn. The second was pretty remarkable since this was Guiterrez' first time in a race of this magnitude. When spinning off the turn at the 1/4 pole, he was out in the middle of the track with Went the Day Well. The key move was sliding him back inside to make his run at Bodemeister. The closers that stayed out there kept coming but it was too late. That move was make or break for him in catching the game Bodemeister. Bodemeisters' ability to burn those fractions and still be running at the end was quite impressive. · 19 days ago ·

The 138th running of the Kentucky Derby went according to script from a pace standpoint and I’ll Have Another ran down Bodemeister after sitting the perfect outside stalking trip. Post position was critical in the outcome of Kentucky Derby 2012 and the key was the draw of the speed horses. Bodemeist...Read More
The dust from the Derby has settled and it’s time for a little wrap up. This 20 horse field every year is ridiculous and until something is done about it the best horse is always going to be compromised (not that Rags was the best horse) but look at the quality of the field and the where they finished. This is a perfect example why I love reading articles and comments on these horse racing sites. People, whether experts or novices, have absolutely no clue who will win. • jonathanpoker · you can't leave out went the day well he's go tiznow, mr. prospector, secreteriat, and tom fool that's an awesome pedigree and if u r fool enough to leave him out it might just cost u the derby as for hansen i think the distance will be 2 much, Daddy Nose Best will lose because he's never raced at churchill downs, Gemologist looks like he'll be getting his first win b/c the only one he's really raced against was alpha and according to this article u should leave him out, Union Rags is coming off a third and finally we get to Bodemeister, this horse can't win b/c his pedigree is alright not great and never raced at churchill down. · 25 days ago ·

  • PriorLaugh · Union rags is likely to get into traffic trouble, Hansen will get into a speed duel with Bodemeister and Trinniberg. Hansen is known to act up and doesnt seem to relax till the back stretch. Gemologist has the best possible chance to win as he takes well to the churchill surface and is bred to go the distance. Daddy nose best? Could possible be in the top 5. Im still keeping TCI, IHA, and Gemologist in my Trifecta box. · 25 days ago ·
