Older Comments about Treve...

After her sub-par run in the Prince of Wales's Stakes, trainer Criquette Head-Maarek had her filly thoroughly checked out, believing it was something physical that cause her disappointing run at Ascot and she will now face a spell on the sidelines having been diagnosed with pull muscles in her back. Treve will miss all of the mid-summer races and be off the track until at least September according to her connections. Not the first filly that's came to Ascot, not ran as well as expected, and then claimed pulled muscles after the race, I.E., Black Caviar in 2012.
From AtTheRaces.com: Treve remains on course for the G1 Prince of Wales's Stakes next week at Royal-Ascot after coming through her final piece of serious work with flying colors.

  • paul.nathan.946 · She wins them both with ease i mean what older stayers have we got now? Flintshire and The fugue who both don't go on soft ground.. Mukhadram is decent but probably a level below them 3. struggling for any more · 1055 days ago
  • Euro Trash · @paul, that is my thinking also. · 1055 days ago
Treve's work yesterday over Les Aigles in Chantilly - Frankie Dettori calls her the best he's ever ridden, and he's ridden Dubai Millennium! - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOLgB0p_0xA
Found an article from Weatherbys, and they spoke to Frankie Dettori who is flying to France to work Treve and how excited he was. https://www.weatherbys.co.uk/node/17824

Trainer Criquette Head-Maarek told the European racing media this weekend that undefeated Arc winner Treve will begin her 2014 campaign at Longchamp on April 27th in the G1 Prix Ganay for 4+YO Males & Females over 10-1/2f. Maarek went on to say that assuming Treve returns from Longchamp unskaved on her seasonal debut that she would then be prepared either for a trip to Royal-Ascot for the G1 Prince of Wales's Stakes at 10f or she could stay in France and stretch back out to 12f in the G1 Grand Prix De Saint-Cloud which historically runs 3 to 5 days prior to the Prince of Wales's Stakes. Either route Maarek decides to take it looks like this mega talented filly will be facing the boys right out of the gate in her first starts of the season!! Maarek said with a winter's growth on her back now that Treve looks bigger now than last season and that she appears to be stronger than ever. Can't wait to see her in the Prix Ganay next month!!

  • Northport · A Google translation "Winner of the Prix de Diane Longines and Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe last year, Treve returned to work Tuesday morning on the sand track Eagles, Chantilly, a company leader. She completed a course of 1,600 meters with Lanfranco Dettori in the saddle. We remember the accident, including the Italian jockey had been the victim a few days the biggest win of the filly in the Arc. Forty days of his first goal this season, the Prix Ganay (Gr1 - 2.100m), scheduled on April 27 at Longchamp, daughter of Motivator continues to reassure Criquette Head-Maarek" · 1138 days ago
  • EP Taylor · I hate Google translate..lol. Thanks for the info Northport. I saw it on France Galop but didn't bother translating, I was just happy to see her and Frankie Working. · 1138 days ago
Earlier today I skimmed a short article of interview Treve's trainer Criquette Head-Maarek just recently did a few days ago with a reporter in France. She was asked what races Treve will target in 2014 and she said the G1 Prix Ganay is possible, but she's not entirely sure they'd want to run Treve in late April-early May which is when the Prix Ganay always falls on the racing calender. The other races that sounded more probable were the G1 Grand Prix De Saint-Cloud at 12f in mid-June, G1 King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot in July, the G1 Juddmonte International was mentioned as a "possible target" for August, but if she skips York Maarek said she would probably prep for the Arc by running in the Prix Vermeille again. Post-Arc possibilities that were mentioned were the G1 Japan Cup, G1 Breeders Cup Turf, & G1 Hong Kong Vase, though Maarek said the final decisions for all of Treve's races would ultimately be left up to her owner, Sheikh Joaan Bin Hamad Al Thani. Speaking for myself, I've always thought the Grand Prix De Saint-Cloud would be a definite Group 1 target for her in France, and I could certainly see her connections wanting to take a crack at the King George also. But rest assured the Arc is the real end game for Treve again so anything else prior to the Arc is all gravy for her.
when does this beauty return? & does anyone know if she has been working.

Who is better Treve or Zarkava
Trainer Head-Maarek told France Gallop that the schedule for Treve is as follows: Prix Ganay to start the year, Prince of Wales' stakes , Prix Vermeille, and then the Arc to end the year.

  • paul.nathan.946 · saying that racing the fugue in england will be a big test shes up there with the likes of gentildonna · 1170 days ago
  • EP Taylor · I wouldn't ship her to Japan. Like Paul said, those Japanese horses are for the course. Gentildonna going for a three peat is more likely. · 1170 days ago
Treve and Black Caviar are tied in the top spot for Longines 2013 World Thoroughbred Rankings with ratings of 130. Wise Dan and Orfevre are next on the list, tied with a rating of 129, followed next by Lord Kanaloa and Novellist with a rating of 128
I'm not sure which races Treve will be pointed at when she returns for her 4yo season in 2014, but wherever she lands, I'll continue to back this filly until someone shows me she can be beaten, assuming she even can. Her win in the Arc, defeating Orfevre by 5 lengths and Intello by 5-1/4 lengths was seriously no joke, and it looks an even stronger win now after Orfevre ran rough shod over the G1 Arima Kinen field in Japan in his final race.
Best Horse right now.
Where does anyone think this horse will race next, do you think she will come to the U.S.

  • Northport · Because the arc is the finale for middle distance European races, I can't see them taking her to Hong Kong, she seems like one that will be saved for European races. · 1301 days ago
  • mkstorm · The international report on HRTV this morning indicated that both Treve and Moonlight Cloud will not run in the Breeders Cup. I was hoping that Treve would run in the Japan Cup, but they said she's done for the year. Moonlight is going to run in Hong Kong. I would love to see her take on the Japan's Lord K in that race. · 1297 days ago
Have you ever wondered how much the grooms can love their horses? Treve's may be a good example - the Prix De Diane http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E937d_wVNM4 (skip to 4:26 if you want to just see his reaction). And the Arc - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7R5oberfgU

Treve vs. Danedream vs. Zarkava, who is your winner?

  • EP Taylor · As far as Danedream is concerned, she has the Arc at 3, and King George at 4, she is legit in my books. Pity she couldn't defend her Arc title last year. · 1301 days ago
Undefeated and beat ofevre. The black caviar of Europe? And of marathon distance not sprints?

Holy crap this horse is a beast
How special is this filly!!! Didn't just beat Orfevre and Intello, she beat them like a drum. Without a doubt the best middle distance filly Europe has seen since the mighty unbeaten Aga Khan filly Zarkava back in 2007-2008, IMO. Impressive performance!!

  • mkstorm · Didn't think the only filly in this race would win against this tough field. I was wrong - Treve was definitely the best horse. That was a totally dominating win! If she runs in the Breeders Cup Turf, everyone else is running for second. · 1302 days ago
  • EP Taylor · I think Danedream would give her all she could handle. Danedream was severely underrated. I love this filly Treve, I hoped, and Glad she won the Arc. Any chance she goes to Japan for the Cup vs Gold Ship and Gentledonna? · 1301 days ago
