What the Nation is saying about Tree of Life...

Will be out 3-4 months with hairline fracture in his leg. Looks to be able to make return to racing for West Point Thoroughbreds later this year.
showed us nothing in the last race Zeewat much better
It was another impressive performance from Zeewat. The Jerry Hollendorfer trainee continued Nor Cal dominance on Saturday, winning the $100,000 California Derby by a measured half-length. The margin of victory was small but the race itself was large in the scope of things. He broke slowly under jock...Read More
  • BrianZipse · Great shot of the start, Don ... unfortunately, I am on the doubter side of things. This one does not have the same kind of potential that we saw in Nonios last year. · 128 days ago ·

  • marylandgq · Nice insight on Zeewat, Don. I'll take the counterpoint (or "non-doubter" side). That unimpressive loss in the Tim Conway came at 6f, a distance no Harlan's Holiday runner relishes. As you pointed out, the winner (Merit Man) came back to destroy a quality field in the "Bid" stakes @ GP. Add the fact that Zeewat has won on dirt (@ Santa Rosa) and this (CAL Derby) was part of the maturation process. To throw in some "Doubter" fuel... on Sunday @ GG (day after Cal Derby), a 1 1/16 race was run in the same exact time (1:46.50), by $4k Claimers, OUCH! Regardless, Zeewat is on my Watch List, but he'll eventually have to ship to get enough Derby points, cuz 10 (if he wins El Camno Real Derby) won't be enough to run in Derby. · 127 days ago ·

Saturday, the $100,000 California Derby will be center stage at Golden Gate Fields. Seven three-year-olds will walk up to the starting gate, with Kentucky Derby hopes at least somewhere in the minds of their connections. Yes you heard right. Seven horses. Seven. The California Derby used to be race ...Read More

Bluegrass Equine Bloodstock’s Joha took advantage of his inside post position under jockey Rajiv Maragh to post a front-running victory in the Dixiana Breeders’ Futurity by a length over Dynamic Sky.Read More
  • mdracing69 · Bluegrass Equine Bloodstock’s Joha returned to trainer Mike Maker’s barn at Louisville’s Trackside Training Center this morning after exiting his victory in the Dixiana Breeders’ Futurity (G1) in good order. The victory earned Joha a berth in the $2 million Grey Goose Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) to be run November 3 at Santa Anita. However, Maker said that the $500,000 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (G1) to be run the same day may be the more likely target for Joha, who has a win and second in two grass starts. · 227 days ago ·
