What the Nation is saying about Treasure Beach...

In one of the most explosive efforts in the history of the Audemars Piguet Queen Elizabeth II Cup (G1), Japan’s Rulership powerhoused away from quality competition en route to a four-length win in the 2,000-metre event. Dubai Sheema Classic fourth Treasure Beach lost significant ground around the fi...Read More
Im really excited to watch him race in Sha Tin on Sunday
  • ILuvTurfRacing · Just now saw that Treasure Beach is going to Hong Kong for the APQEII. That's the influence of Fitriani Hay having bought shares in him, because Aidan O'Brien's never been big on sending any of the horses in his stable owned by Michael Tabor, Derrick Smith, or Mr. and Mrs. John Magnier over to Hong Kong to race. The race should suit Treasure Beach, as he's proven in the Chester Vase plus the Epsom and Irish Derbies that he stays 12f with no problem. But he also showed in the Secretariat Stakes at Arlington that he's also capable of grinding out a win at G1 level over 10f, too. That's just what the APQEII should be for him. A grinding 10f G1 race. · 30 days ago ·

  • AmbitiousD · His chances are looking better and better. He won the Secretariat over a yielding course and its raining puppies and kittens outside right now. I'm guessing there will be a soft course tomorrow, but he races in the 8th race on the card, so I dont know how chewed up the track will be by post time · 30 days ago ·

Am I excited about the Dubai World Cup card? Let me answer it this way ... The eight big races carry a combined purse of $27 million. The Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic winner, Royal Delta, looked phenomenal in Dubai on Wednesday. She has the same look she did before her big win at Churchill Downs in November, and was just striking today when on the Tapeta. As always, our thanks to Cedric Lane for the photos. Owners Jim and Fitri Hay yesterday strengthened their connections with Ballydoyle by acquiring a share of Treasure Beach. The Hay's last season managed to acquire shares in both Cape Blanco and Fame and Glory from Smith, Magnier, and Tabor. Treasure Beach is set to be Ballydoyle's representative in the G1 Sheema Classic on world cup night. But whether or not he'll be wearing his usual purple and white silks of Derek Smith or the colors of Mrs. Fitri Hay in the race still remains to be seen?
Admit it. You’re just like me. You read about Coolmore racehorse trainer Aidan O’Brien flying horses in and out of the United States from his base in Tipperary, Ireland and you wonder, “How does he do it?” Coolmore stars Cape Blanco and Treasure Island landed in the USA and scored victories at Arlin...Read More

My guess is that with the retirement of Cape Blanco that Treasure Beach is now likely to become Coolmore's #1 for this year's BC Turf? He has the win and your in berth from his win at Arlington back in August, so Coolmore won't have to supplement. Treasure Beach is a really talented 3yr.old, also sired by Galileo. He beat King George winner, Nathaniel, on his seasonal debut in the G3 Chester Vase. Then went to Epsom and just missed winning the G1 Epsom Derby by mere inches when Pour Moi mugged him right on the wire. He rebounded from the Epsom loss by winning the G1 Irish Derby at the Curragh. Then he came to America and won the G1 Secretariat Stakes. Stepping down in trip from 12 to 10f. He went to Longchamp next and finished 4th behind Meandre in the G1 Grand Prix De Paris. I'm still furious that Coolmore used a horse like Treasure Beach, who was nearly dual Derby winner, and American G1 winner, as a pacemaker for St Nicholas Abbey and So You Think in the Arc over the weekend. Which used him up early in the race. A horse good enough to win a Chester Vase, Irish Derby, Secretariat Stakes, and run 2nd in an Epsom Derby should've been allowed to try and win the Arc on his own merits instead of being used up as a pacemaker, IMO. But if run's in the BC Turf, he'll be ridden a lot differently than he was in the Arc. So You Think also has a win and your in for the BC Turf for Coolmore by virtue of his Irish Champion Stakes win. But I'm pretty certain that Michael Tabor, Derick Smith, John Magnier, and the rest of the Coolmore mafia are salivating at the prospect of running So You Think in the BC Classic over his preferred trip of 10f.
Two weeks ago it appeared that the dowager Qatar Arc de Triomphe would be run on good-to-soft ground in typical cooler Autumn weather. A full complement of 28 horses were expected to run eliciting the usual fears of lessor horses with uneven talents endangering and hampering better horses.Read More

  • yukichan · Agree...it is SYT's race to lose, but the talent in this race is pretty awesome. And what do you think of the supplement of Meandre, Danedream, and Masked Marvel? Make the Arc even more exciting and complicated...for second place! I think the firm/fast going also works against Danedream. So my picks are SYT, Sarafina, Galikova. · 241 days ago ·

  • Rossington · @mary.schweitzer, That's correct!! It was on England's Racing Post web-site this morning that Aidan O'Brien intends to send Cape Blanco back to America to run in the G1 Joe Hirsch Turf Classic at Belmont on Oct. 2nd. The Joe Hirsch being 1-1/2 race should put Cape Blanco spot on for this year's Breeders Cup Turf. Likely Clement will send Winchester out after Cape Blanco instead of Gio Ponti this time. The race being 1-1/2 instead of 1-1/4. · 266 days ago ·
