Man I'm so happy. Now the real number one 3 yrold will show u what a champion is
I'm so glad to hear he should be back soon, I think he'll have a couple of works and then probably start with a AOC.

He is starting to regain strength in his legs and has added a few pounds. He is expected to start light training in approximately three weeks. His progression is right on point, basically. They are targeted a return in September or October, if able.

Any updates? Hope he's recovering well
Rosario is riding General A Rod in the Florida Derby, so i am going to assume this one will skip that race and if not have a new rider on his back

Per Shug's twitter, Top Billing got to KY in good order, surgery at noon today.

  • goblin · Hey, jimmy, unfortunate for TB. At least he did not lose his life, and should be back after surgery and rehab. Don't forget to watch Please Explain at Oaklawn this afternoon... · 196 days ago
Off the Derby trail. Shrug says cracked cannon bone. Long-term prognosis good. (Source: Mike Penna)

After an in-depth look at his pedigree, he should be able to run all day. Alot of horses on the KY derby trail dont have the pedigree to go the distance but he should easily cover a 1 1/4 and the 1 1/2 pedigree
I mean the 1 1/2 Belmont
I know he will probably win on Florida Derby day but IMO it isn't worth the risk of him not getting enough points. He could easily clean up in NY
Agree with you TMALLIOS, they could only blame themselves. Wood Memorial seems like a better choice
  • tmallios1 · Hannah, after their beefs from the FOY,how could they even consider the Fla.Derby an option. I am sure it is just talk and Grandstanding. I am sure Shug has some other horses to run down there this month. He still needs the Racing Secretary as an ally to write up races for him. Should he bail on Saint Francisco from now,all bets then are off the table. · 204 days ago
Is he headed for the Florida derby or the Wood Memorial? I've heard both
  • Floridaf · On the Gulfstream website, McGaughey is quoted as saying Florida Derby with a disclaimer of it being a bit early and that he would wait and see. · 204 days ago
  • tmallios1 · Hannah , if Shug and his owners select the Florida Derby and run on a track that they blamed due to its Speed Bias. If they decide to run a deep closer for a 3rd time. Then they have no one to blame but themselves when he loses. · 204 days ago
Nice to know there is someone who won't make a conversation heated just because we disagree
By TP I mean TB. TMALLIOS, I will agree to disagree
  • tmallios1 · Agreed Hannah. We just share a different perspective.Good luck to you. That is what makes horseracing,if we all thought alike. It sure would be boring. · 204 days ago
I'm tired of people saying he lacked the tactical speed to be up close. Am I the only on who saw Rosario try to get him closer before realizing he would be caught way wide if he didn't pull back. And, people are saying General A rod covered more ground then TP. That is a ridiculous statement. GAR and WCR rode the rail the whole time while TP was stuck wide on both turns.
  • tmallios1 · What race where you watching. The general was 2 wide the entire trip.Joel came back with splinters on his left leg ,he rode the rail so tight. You are atleast corect.Joel did try to keep him closer. But the horse has no tactical speed, trying to get tactical speed from TP.Is like trying to get water out of a rock, you can't. He is a dead closer. Will always be a victim of ground loss on the turns.Unless Joel pulls a miracle out of his bag of tricks like he did in the FOY · 204 days ago
Did anyone read this latest Beyer article on DRF? http://www.drf.com/news/andrew-beyer-fountain-youth-result-confirms-bias I had to reread this one to figure out what he was trying to say because he claims GP doesn't have a real speed bias but then goes on to talk about how the top 2 in the FOY benefited purely from the bias. Normandy Invasion was the only horse on dirt to not win on the lead that day. After all this he finally goes on to say " The track may have been an excuse for Top Billing, but – bias or no bias – he should have mustered more of a rally than he did. His was a disappointing effort." I know there are a lot of TB fans here, myself included, but I have yet to see anyone say he gave a poor performance. Any thoughts? i try not to take Mr. Beyer to seriously

  • tmallios1 · I made the same point on Saturday night. This is an over rated horse due to his popularity. I said he stalled in the stretch and looks like Byer saw the same thing. Very good horses overcome things. The average ones can't. You may think i am shilling for the horse i like. In last years Gotham Stakes at Aq. ,Every race was won by speed horses,on the lead or sitting 2nd.The rail was gold that day. Vyjack with the same rider up(Rosario) got completely squeezed at the start and dropped back to last. he was not as lucky with his trip ,saving every bit of ground on the great rail . Never having to check or lose ground. Vyjack ws fanned 5 wide and still won the race under wraps by open lengths. My point, excellent horses overcome without the excuse. The average or good horses will always complain. · 207 days ago
  • goblin · cedar, After reading your linked article, it seems to me that Beyer equivocates on various points and loses his sense of direction as he goes. His last sentence finally pulls it together: "The three-year-olds with the brightest futures may not be the ones who were in the winners circle Saturday". · 207 days ago
I'm all for the fillies running with the colts but I'm not sure Untapable can do it. Sure, she ran faster than the risen star, but what good horses were really in that race? Bond holder scratched, leaving a group of distance limited colts and a horse (intense holiday) who has proved he can't run with the best colts. I know Gulfstream was running super fast on Saturday but Wildcat Red beat the Risen star time by ALOT. And look at Top Billing's closing fractions, he was flying! On any other track he would of flew by the leaders.
Funny if you really think about it. I saw his allowanceOC win back in late Jan. and wasn't too hyped up about him. Yet after his 3rd place charge in the FOY on a speed bias track... man oh man. I love this boy.
