Older Comments about Toormore...

This just out on Racing Post.com: Jockey Ryan Moore had been booked to ride Toormore in Tuesday's G1 St James's Palace Stakes at Ascot, but trainer Richard Hannon, Jr. is now saying that since it looks likely that English Guineas winner Night of Thunder will have good/good to firm ground to oppose Kingman over at Ascot that Toormore may bypass Ascot now in favor of running in the G1 Prix Jean-Prat at Chantilly in France instead. Stayed tuned......
A professional looking '14 debut for Toormore. Challenged by The Grey Gatsby, but had plenty left to repel and win the Craven at Newmarket.

  • Northport · Somewhat related question: Racingpost and others keep referring to Toormore as the champion 2 y/o of 2013, yet Kingston Hill was the Cartier winner. Was Toormore champion in Ireland or England exclusively? Honest question, the only awards I really follow in Europe are the Cartiers · 588 days ago
  • EP Taylor · Northport- Toormore was rated higher at 122 pounds, vs Kingston Hill's 120. They consider Toormore the best 2 year old from last year, but Kingston Hill won the Cartier for best 2 year old. Toormore just has a higher rating. · 588 days ago
Toormore beats the Grey Gatsby to win the G3 Craven Stakes at Newmarket on his 2014 seasonal debut and will also be headed to Newmarket undefeated along with Kingman for the upcoming G1 English 2000 Guineas.
The connections of still unbeaten Toormore have said the G3 Craven Stakes at Newmarket on April 17th is where he'll likely make his 2014 seasonal debut to prep for the upcoming G1 English 2000 Guineas. If he handles a mile as well as he's handled 7f so far, it will be hard for me to see past this colt heading to Newmarket. He's an unbeaten 3 for 3 and really has the best form in the books heading into the Guineas, having beaten G1 BC Juvenile Turf & G2 Champagne Stakes winner Outstrip in the G2 Vintage Stakes, and G1 Phoenix Stakes & G2 Railway Stakes winner Sudirman, plus BC Juvenile Turf 2nd, Giovanni Boldini, in the G1 National Stakes in Ireland.
