Big day for Galileo as a sire!! Frankel takes the G1 Q.E.II Stakes at Royal-Ascot in the UK. Together takes the G1 Q.E.II Challenge Cup in America. Credit to jockey Colm O'Donoghue, who rode a beautiful race on Together at Keenland today, and really had much the best filly through the stretch. Together had 5 G1 stakes 2nd place finishes going into the Q.E.II Challenge Cup today. Beaten a neck by the still unbeaten White Moonstone in the G1 Fillies Mile at Ascot at the end of last season. Beaten 3/4 of a length by Blue Bunting in the G1 English 1000 Guineas. Beaten 3/4 of a length by stablemate Misty For Me in the G1 Irish 1000 Guineas. Beaten by multiple graded stakes winning filly, Emulous, in the G1 Matron Stakes in Ireland. And beaten by Never Retreat in the G1 First Lady Stakes a week ago at Keenland. You can't ever overlook a filly like this that's run to less than a length against fillies like White Moonstone, Blue Bunting, and Misty For Me. It was inevitable that Together was eventually going to get her nose across the wire first at some point in one of these G1 turf stakes, and today was the day!!

I watched that stakes race at 7 furlongs that he ran 3rd in- I can't beleive that Mike WatchMaker has his early odds so low. That race was visionally not much- and the way he drifted at the end in a straight course race was scary. I have learned not to over look the Euros on turf. An expensive lesson that started with Red Rocks, but I just don't see this horse at anywhere near 5-1.
