What the Nation is saying about Tizanexpense...

Tizanexpense had to be put down due to a racing injury. He will be missed!
The lone graded Kentucky Derby 2012 prep at Turfway Park was run on Saturday and Went The Day Well emerged as a contender on the first Saturday in May after cruising home in the G3 Spiral Stakes for Graham Motion and Team Valor.Read More
In a race full of question marks, why not look for a little betting value? That’s exactly what I will be doing in today’s Vinery Racing Spiral Stakes at Turfway Park, and it just so happens that both of my value horses are sent out by the same very successful local trainer. Michael Maker has arguabl...Read More

  • Mary Z. · Thanks, icy. I'll read that over again to get everything out of it that I can. Do you think the winner has a chance to do as AK did last year? I don't think Went The Day Well was quite as impressive, but I'll read all of the reviews I can find. · 756 days ago ·
  • cully10 · If you watch the replay I get the feeling this horse may do well with more ground. He has a very long stride which should serve him well through the TC season. He appears to have some tactical speed so it may well come down to his ability to navigate through the cluster that tends to build at the top of the Derby stretch. Definitely one I'll be watching. · 755 days ago ·
Will the next Animal Kingdom emerge from the shadows at Turfway Park on Saturday? One thing is for sure. The Grade 3 Spiral Stakes is a wide open Derby prep race and the winner will have the necessary graded earnings to make the starting gate in Kentucky Derby 2012.Read More

The field for the Vinery Racing Spiral Stakes (G3) at Turfway Park this Saturday is expected to fill or nearly fill the gate as trainers solidify plans for their Kentucky Derby hopefuls. The race’s $500,000 purse virtually assures the winner a spot in the Derby gate, as proved true for the 2011 Spir...Read More
  • alpha bet · I'm looking for some noise from the Pletcher/Castellano entry Heavy Breathing. I like his win at GP 3/3 at 1 1/8mi. He hasn't been mentioned as a contender in this article, but I'll bet the connections alone drop his odds come race day. Can he follow Animal Kingdom and win the Spiral then jump to the Derby? · 760 days ago ·
The road to Kentucky Derby 2012 heats up in New Orleans on Saturday with the Grade 2 Risen Star Stakes and El Padrino looms large for trainer Todd Pletcher. #7 EL PADRINO (2-1) is the deserving favorite following a visually impressive and fast Optional Claiming route tally at Gulfstream Jan 29.
