What the Nation is saying about Tiz The One...

A year ago about this time, trainer Chad Brown was thinking Florida Derby and even Kentucky Derby with a promising 3-year-old named Tiz the One. A son of Tiznow, Tiz the One opened his career here with two impressive victories, the second a one-mile entry level allowance win for which he earned a 10...Read More
Updated 2010 Kentucky Derby Graded Stakes earnings as of March 31, 2010. Key contenders Eskendereya, Caracortado, Schoolyard Dreams, Drosselmeyer, Jackson Bend and Pleasant Prince will all likely require more graded stakes earnings to get in. Read More
  • bband · It seems like more horses will get shut out this year than in recent memory. What will be interesting is if Pletcher starts all 7 horses, fully knowing the lesser ones can't compete with his top runners. But what it will do is keep several real contenders out of the race. · 788 days ago ·

The results of the Wood Memorial, Santa Anita Derby and Illinois Derby shuffled the order of the Kentucky Derby graded earnings a bit. Read More
  • Rossington · As well as he's raced over every conventional dirt track that he's ever ran, I still find it hard to believe that Rick Dutrow isn't going to take a shot at the 2010 Kentucky Derby with D' Funnybone. I really think it's a distance question with Dutrow. But that wouldn't deter me from taking a shot with this colt, because none of the incoming contenders will be proven yet at 1-1/4. • Rossington · Boy, that Florida Stallion Series sure must not have paid very well for Jackson Bend to be so far down the list in Graded earnings. I also thought D' Funnybone with win's in the Saratoga Special, the Futurity Stakes, the Hutcheson Stakes, and the Swale Stakes, plus a place effort in the Frank Gomez Stakes would have acquired more money in Graded earnings than his total suggest. · 784 days ago ·

Noble's Promise could have his final work for the Grade 1, $1 million Arkansas Derby on Saturday, depending on the weather at Oaklawn, trainer Ken McPeek said. Noble's Promise has been based here since finishing second by a head to champion Lookin At Lucky in the Grade 2, $300,000 Rebel on March 13....Read More
Turns out that Smart Strike colts CAN win big races on synthetics and dirt, ala LOOKIN AT LUCKY in last Saturday's G2 Rebel at Oaklawn. Guess that blows a hole in the argument that the carpet single-handedly beat Curlin in the 2008 Breeders' Cup. You might recall, Curlin also was sired by Smart Stri...Read More
In addition to the renewals of the $200,000 Inside Information Stakes (G2), $75,000 Sunshine State Stakes and the ‘All-Turf Pick Four’ on the last four races Sunday at Gulfstream Park, a pair of allowance races to be run early on the program, one for colts and one for fillies, have attracted severa...Read More
