ruffian75, Why would you start a 2 yr. old in late September at 7.5 furlongs? Probably because hes a natural distance colt, and hes already conditioned from farm work to go a mile. He draws off at 7.5 furlong with his first start, winning the race. Watch him on video at bloodhorse.com, and notice he his NOT seriously pushed or extended in the $200,000 mile race. Simply because he WILL be pushed in a MILLION dollar race at a 8.5 furlongs. Factor this in with his bullet move beating 77 other horses as a 2yr. old (along with being the 2nd best workout in 11 days) on 11-12-11. This race is probably a "crap shoot", but if you want to "roll the dice" take a another look at this colt, and watch his post time win pool odds. .

  • MichaelPavelick · I don't get it. They go 8.5 furlongs today, and the same in the BC juvenile. So they can workout 7 & 8 furlongs on a farm. Your not enjoying a weekend drink are you? · 1291 days ago
  • travel_vic · NO just having followed the careers of transitions between 2 and three year old form for many a year, TWO year old performances at 8.5 are usually all about simply running away from competition before the 6 furlong point. As they mature, they Close from that point in the race a whole lot better. · 1291 days ago
I searched through 10 days of 5 furlong works at Fair Grounds, and found only one horse who worked a faster 5 furlong breeze then Tiz Moe did on 11-12-11. A 2 yr. old working a bullet move, beating 77 other horses who worked that day. Plus his work was the fastest over a 10 day stretch, only being beaten by a 4 yr. old gelding by the name of Comedero.
