  • icyhotboo · Horse racing is the most luck dependant gambling I have ever participated in, either as an owner or bettor. As far as betting it runs in streaks as you know. That was a nice pick on the #2 Out of Bounds as I wouldn't have reversed it as I thought the #4 was by far the best. After seeing your remarks I looked a lot closer and loved the bloodlines.I also handicap a lot of races that are interesting with but no intention of betting, it's fun. Where is this horse as of January 2012?!?!
  • Mary Z. · TBDF, I had been awaiting the return of the fabled Pamplemousse last year, too, following his good workouts, but he never was able to make it back to the races and was retired to stud last fall. Look for his Cali babies soon. http://ctba.com/pamplemousse-stand-rancho-san-miguel · 514 days ago ·

cugel the clever, did you not see Sidney's Candy in the La Jolla at Del Mar on 8/14/10? When he won in record time on turf?

  • horses · You have to admit Sidney's Candy was very impressive over the Del Mar turf. That's a big difference from the CD turf course, but off that effort, and the fact that he's not proven on dirt or at 1 1/4 miles, you have to think they are going for the BC Mile next. Watch for the Oak Tree Mile as his next start. I took him off the list for the Classic (not sure why he was on that list, but someone please correct me if I am wrong). Agree with Cugel ... the Classic would be insanity. · 984 days ago ·

  • mrsmaryzinke · cugel the clever, the only fouling at the Santa Anita Derby happened post-race, when the missus #2 verbally attacked Victor Espinoza. The S.A.Derby was the second time G.G. ran Lookin At Lucky up the hind end of other horses. Martin Garcia is L.A.L.'s jockey now, so something was going on there. A change was needed. I don;t think S.C. should be in the B.C. Classis either, but I don't consider him over-rated. They should keep him on grass.n · 983 days ago ·

trueturf, I can't wait either. He's been working out at Del Mar for weeks. We should see him back soon.

  • cugel the clever · "Real Deal"???? Give me a break. The "Grapefruit" was simply one of a huge crowd of babies who win a couple of graded stakes before the KD and get hyped way beyond their ability. He has done absolutely nothing on the racetrack that hasn't been done by hundreds of other horses (like Sydney's Candy) who turned out to be simply ordinary. · 986 days ago ·

Several of The Pamplemousse's fans have been asking for an update on him, so I paid a visit to trainer Julio Canani's barn at Hollywood Park this week, where I found The Pamplemousse looking healthy, happy and frisky. I really would like to know if this colt is ever going to return to the track? And if so, when? I thought the Pamplemousse was one of the most explosive front runners I had seen burst onto the racing scene for quite sometime. I was really disappointed when he had to scratch out of the 09' Santa Anita Derby, and a match-up with Pioneer of The Nile. He also missed what would certainly have been a date with the starting gate at Churchill Downs in 2009 as well. I'm looking forward if and when he ever returns to racing again, to seeing "The Mousse" turned loose.
