Coolmore's unbeaten 2yo The Great War, already ante-post favorite for next year's English 2000 Guineas, runs in the G2 Norfolk Stakes in the opening race of the Ascot Gold Cup day card. This son of War Front has been hugely impressive in 2 wins so far in Ireland, but tomorrow will be a marked step up in competition for him. Can't wait to see how runs at Ascot!!

  • Euro Trash · @jonquil, and it did not hold up in this race either. Frankie on another 2 yr old winner · 381 days ago
  • jonquil · I was hoping to be able to comment on this on the morning before the race, but unfortunately because of how busy things are here I missed it. :/ I was on at 2 a.m., but kind of afraid no one who might benefit from the info would see it, and didn't really expect anything to come up. But yes, he's been a bit overrated and it loos as if he should have probably gone to a listed race instead. · 381 days ago
Coolmore's star 2yo The Great War was not among the final entries for the G2 Coventry Stakes at Ascot on Tuesday, as Aidan O'Brien has instead gone with War Envoy to represent Coolmore in the race. The Great War is at this time still among the entries for the G2 Norfolk Stakes which runs on Thursday.
Looks an impressive 2yr old already favourite for the Coventry stakes.

  • ILuvTurfRacing · @paul.nathan.946, I'll say this much, regarless of whether it's the G2 Coventry Stakes or G2 Norfolk Stakes this colt ends up running in at Ascot, he was very impressive in that race at the Curragh today. Won going away easily under a hand ride by Joseph O'Brien. · 425 days ago
  • paul.nathan.946 · I have no idea where he goes at ascot i just presumed it would be the Coventry. He still may have a run before ascot in the marble hill stakes that's what O'brien said anyway. · 425 days ago
