Samuel H. Rogers, Jr.’s 4-year-old homebred gelding Close It Out is a confirmed closing sprinter and his connections will hope for a solid pace scenario in the early going of Sunday’s $100,000 Sunshine State Stakes at Gulfstream Park.Read More
D’ Funnybone and a patient Edgar Prado took advantage of blistering early fractions in Saturday’s Grade 2, $250,000 Woody Stephens presented by Emirates Airline to rally from off the pace and pull clear to a 3¼-length victory over Discreetly Mine.   When the gates opened, Eightyfiveinafifty an...Read More

  • medlocke · I guess it must be distance issue's with this colt? Given that he didn't attempt to run in any of the three Triple Crown races this season. But, IMO, D'Funnybone has raced over conventional dirt as impressively and as effectively as any of the other 3yr.old contenders this season has. He's certainly won more races over conventional dirt than any of the other 3yr.old's that I've seen. · 1495 days ago ·

  • mdracing69 · D'Funnybone is deadly at seven furlongs and I have to give Dutrow and company credit for keeping the distance challenged colt in sprints. Keep an eye on Trappe Shot. He ran faster than D'Funnybone on the Belmont undercard at the same 7f distance and appears to have plenty of upside for McLaughlin. · · 1494 days ago ·

Eightyfiveinafifty, electrifying winner of the Bay Shore on April 3 at Aqueduct, will seek to flash his abundant speed and run away from a select field Saturday in the 25th running of the Grade 2, $250,000 Woody Stephens presented by Emirates Airline on Saturday at Belmont Park.   Th...Read More
A few years back when interviewing Tony Dutrow, he told me he was in the racing business to make money and that every horse was for sale. Now that he has WINSLOW HOMER on the Derby trail for julep-yearning owner Rick Porter, it will be interesting to see how his philosophy changes now with a sip of ...Read More
Fox Hill Farms’ Winslow Homer made an auspicious stakes debut Saturday at Gulfstream Park as he pulled away from Robert LaPenta’s 8-to-5 favorite Jackson Bend in the deep stretch to score a three-quarter length victory in the $150,000 Holy Bull Stakes (G3) as both talented 3-year-olds set off on a p...Read More
  • Rossington · Speaking of the Kentucky Derby, has anyone out there heard any news at all about some of the 09' Derby runners and contenders that were injured early in the year? I know that Pioneer of the Nile, Papa Clem, and Dunkirk have all been retired. But what about Musketman, The Pamplemousse(who I know didn't run in the Derby), or I Want Revenge? I saw that Friesan Fire and General Quarters have both returned to action racing in the Louisiana Handicap recently. Just wondering if anyone knew when we might expect the return of some of the afore mentioned? · 1623 days ago ·

  • cigar · If you go back and watch Winslow Homer's first three races he shows definitive improvement both in terms of overall ability, push-button speed and ratability. I expect him to run big in the Holy Bull. · 1629 days ago ·

Disappointment and hope run in tandem on the trail. Just minutes after word broke that Azeri's baby TAKE CONTROL was injured and off the Triple Crown trail, along came Barbaro's little brother LENTENOR to pull off a "wow" performance unmatched in the maiden ranks this season. Call me crazy, but LENT...Read More

The field for Saturday’s highly-anticipated renewal of the $150,000 Holy Bull Stakes (G3) at Gulfstream Park continues to take shape with a field of seven to 10 3-year-olds expected.
