What the Nation is saying about Tempted To Tapit...

CUTE name! lol
Updated 2010 Kentucky Derby Graded Stakes earnings as of March 31, 2010. Key contenders Eskendereya, Caracortado, Schoolyard Dreams, Drosselmeyer, Jackson Bend and Pleasant Prince will all likely require more graded stakes earnings to get in. Read More
  • bband · It seems like more horses will get shut out this year than in recent memory. What will be interesting is if Pletcher starts all 7 horses, fully knowing the lesser ones can't compete with his top runners. But what it will do is keep several real contenders out of the race. · 1485 days ago ·
  • Blue Rooster · Is Drosselmeyer even going to make a showing in the big 3. · 1476 days ago ·
Trainer Rick Dutrow confirmed Saturday that he still plans to train Homeboykris into the Kentucky Derby instead of getting another prep into the colt. The 2009 Champagne winner, Homeboykris has not started since finishing second behind stablemate Radiohead in a one-mile allowance race here on Feb. 2...Read More

  • Arrrgy · Long gallops will help relieve soreness as opposed to works. Look for him as a deep closer under this training or scratched. · 1481 days ago ·
The results of the Wood Memorial, Santa Anita Derby and Illinois Derby shuffled the order of the Kentucky Derby graded earnings a bit. Read More
  • Rossington · As well as he's raced over every conventional dirt track that he's ever ran, I still find it hard to believe that Rick Dutrow isn't going to take a shot at the 2010 Kentucky Derby with D' Funnybone. I really think it's a distance question with Dutrow. But that wouldn't deter me from taking a shot with this colt, because none of the incoming contenders will be proven yet at 1-1/4. TJMO. · 1481 days ago ·
  • Rossington · Boy, that Florida Stallion Series sure must not have paid very well for Jackson Bend to be so far down the list in Graded earnings. I also thought D' Funnybone with win's in the Saratoga Special, the Futurity Stakes, the Hutcheson Stakes, and the Swale Stakes, plus a place effort in the Frank Gomez Stakes would have acquired more money in Graded earnings than his total suggest. · 1481 days ago ·

  • ruby · Agree. Endorsement has a very nice pedigree for distance with Distorted Humor on the top out of an AP Indy mare. And yes, if Lucky or Eskendereya don't win, this thing is wide, wide open. · 1487 days ago ·
  • humphrey · Conveyance, unmolested on moderate fractions, had better find some more late run of that one will be watching May 1st. · 1487 days ago ·
The most important horse on the 2010 Triple Crown trail so far is -- drumroll please -- WOW WOW WOW. He brings serious pace to Saturday's Louisiana Derby and opens it up for closers to qualify for the Kentucky Derby in a year loaded with nothing but speed-types. He single-handedly enflames the La De...Read More
A front-running winner of the San Rafael S. (G3) and Southwest S. (G3), CONVEYANCE (Indian Charlie) will make his final Kentucky Derby (G1) prep against eight rivals in Sunday's $800,000 Sunland Derby (G3). The 1 1/8-mile event became more important when it was upgraded to Grade 3 status this year, ...Read More
Turns out that Smart Strike colts CAN win big races on synthetics and dirt, ala LOOKIN AT LUCKY in last Saturday's G2 Rebel at Oaklawn. Guess that blows a hole in the argument that the carpet single-handedly beat Curlin in the 2008 Breeders' Cup. You might recall, Curlin also was sired by Smart Stri...Read More
Zayat Stable’s 3-year-old Eskendereya worked an easy five furlongs in 1:02 2/5 Sunday morning at Palm Meadows as he is kept on edge for next Saturday’s $750,000 Florida Derby (G1) at Gulfstream Park, leading a team of a dozen stakes runners on the work tab from trainer Todd Pletcher’s arsenal of ta...Read More
Careless Jewel, among the dominant members of last year's crop of 3-year-old fillies despite a disappointing performance in the Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic in her season finale, is getting closer to her return. A winner of five straight races by a combined 33 lengths, including the Grade 1 Alabama...Read More
Gainesway Farm’s Tempted to Tapit could not match strides with Grade II Risen Star Stakes winner Discreetly Mine Saturday, but continued willingly in the late stages to save the second spot by a neck, an effort that greatly pleased those Gainesway staffers who made the trip to New Orleans to witnes...Read More
Race 10-Grade II, $300,000 Risen Star Stakes 3-year-olds, 1 1/16 miles, 37th running Jockey Javier Castellano (Discreetly Mine, winner): “I’m so blessed. I expected him to be in the lead. He broke well out of the gate and he looked happy galloping along. I appreciate the opportunity for the chance ...Read More
Nice 2nd in Risen Star for a jump from a maiden win to a Grade 2. Pace was real easy up front, so he will have to show more next time.
  • invasor · Tells you this was not a serious Prep race. Stay Put probably ran the best race given the slow early pace · 1523 days ago ·
Just minutes after the Todd Pletcher-trained Eskendereya (Giant's Causeway) romped in Saturday's Fountain of Youth S. (G2) at Gulfstream Park, DISCREETLY MINE (Mineshaft) posted a quick Derby prep double for the barn in the $300,000 Risen Star S. (G2) at Fair Grounds. The E. Paul Robsham Stables hom...Read More

The Todd Pletcher-trained trio of horses who arrived Wednesday in New Orleans for three different graded races on Saturday’s Louisiana Derby Preview Day at Fair Grounds all got the feel of the local atmosphere Thursday morning with leisurely gallops around the Crescent City course.   “Discreet...Read More
Of the 23 individual betting interests in the Kentucky Derby Future Wager, 10 are running this weekend and six ran last weekend. That means the fabric of this year’s Derby picture is going to be greatly altered by Sunday. It also means that a good number of Future Wager tickets will be virtually wor...Read More
When an equine charter from South Florida touched down in New Orleans at about 11:30 Wednesday morning, a legitimate pace in Saturday’s Grade II Risen Star Stakes at Fair Grounds on Louisiana Derby Preview Day was all but assured.   Aboard the flight was Gainesway Farm’s Tempted to Tapit, a St...Read More
The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) has unveiled the “New York Watch” website, the online home for the series launched in January that shines the spotlight on promising colts and fillies that have recently cleared the maiden and allowance ranks at Aqueduct Racetrack, Belmont Park, or Sarat...Read More
Jack Hammer’s Ron the Greek, hero of Fair Grounds’ Grade III Lecomte Stakes Jan. 23, and WinStar Farm’s Drosselmeyer, a rapidly emerging sophomore who won his first start of the year in impressive fashion at Gulfstream Park Jan. 31, may vie for favoritism when they head a field of 12 named to Satur...Read More
  • arazi · They made Ron the Greek a 3-1 favorite, but I think they will definitely make Drosselmeyer the chalk. · 1529 days ago ·
  • cigar · Drosselmeyer's Beyers are low though.... that'll be a tough pill for bettors to swallow. Going there as well - what does that speak about their confidence? · 1527 days ago ·
