  • goblin · These fan-generated lists are highly subjective (as opposed to objective), but Ride On Curlin does deserve a place toward the top at this point in time. It's a bit silly to have two colts in the top 15 that have never even started. ROC has done well; posting a work yesterday, BTW, at Churchill, of 5f. in 1:01, 5/21, breezing. · 206 days ago ·

  • tmallios · Marc did you hear the interview with Baffert in the pre race feed on NBC. They asked him about going to the Derby with any horse. He said that if down deep he knew he had no shot to win. It was not worth it. Like you said with Palace Malice, all they cared about was running in the Derby and profiling amongst the Celebrities in attendance. They knew he had no shot after running his 3rd race in a month. That is exactly what Hollendorfer would be doing,if he panicked and ran. He did right by Shared Interest,i think he knows what the right move is here. · 12 days ago ·

I do not want to compare him to Palice Malice, but Palice Malice was lousy in the Louisiana Derby and ran well to get his points in the blue grass. I wonder if he will do the same thing. with the triple crown these days its all about the points. you can have a 3 year old run a nice maiden win; run first or second in a major derby prep and qualify for the derby.
  • Sully · If you watched the LA Derby last year, you should know PM had a troubled trip, not ran lousy. Hence, the reason they brought him back in the Blue Grass. · 22 days ago ·

  • Sullivan · This one runs best when run back quick. Louisiana came back a little early, Arkansas looks good. Lexington is easy, no stakes left in Cali for him. As far as Meydan, I am convinced the track itself is the issue, not the surface. Wide turns make for a tiring course that sees horses infront at the top of the lane stay there · 22 days ago ·

  • travel_vic · Quote: V Wide turns make for a tiring course. You need a basic physics lesson. Centrifugal force (from Latin centrum, meaning "center", and fugere, meaning "to flee") is the apparent force that draws a rotating body away from the center of rotation. It is caused by the inertia of the body as the body's path is continually redirected. go to a bull ring and try to negotiate a tight turn and then compare the effect of the forces on a wide gentle turn....LEARN some science before making conclusions that don't hold up to scrutiny. · 22 days ago ·

  • jinlie01 · looks like Solitary Ranger and Almost Famous will be the front runners. Not sure if they can stay the distance. Tamarando is definitely the top contender with his record on synthetic and experience with top prospects from CA. But taking a shot with We Miss Artie (4-1 ML) and Poker Player at decent odds..and adding Smart Cover as a longshot..not sure if he can handle these at this point but worth a small bet and exotics play especially at 20-1 or higher. · 26 days ago ·

  • tmallios1 · I do not like Tamarando,in his last win where he was used hard. The horse regressed on his speed figure. If he were the real deal,he would of gone forward. Sorry Sullivan,he still could win this. Other than 1 or 2 others in the field, this is a bad bunch running for half a Million. · 26 days ago ·

  • travel_vic · ONE THING I was told to NEVER mention to him (well that is if you want him to ever respond to you again later) is the handling of Izvestia. Horse had done enough for syndication. ads in the journals about his services being at Gainesway and then they HAD to race him one more time in the Fall with tragic results. I had noted that he had been fouled in a race in New England on the same back leg that gave way at Woodbine and wondered if that was the reason that he had been off most of that last summer. Topic never to be mentioned so I stayed away. · 29 days ago ·

  • da best capper · Nice list. Ive bet every single one of these horses in every single one of their races... my list is 1) shared belief, lengths better if healthy, but JH is a snide bastard and not forthcoming. 2) candy boy 3) cali chrome 4) chitu 5) kobes back 6) tamarando 7) bayern ( i dont think he was tested ... ran a straight line and breezed 24 flat 1st call with other 2 speed getting terrible breaks),8) indy ( super potential, but dont like no routes as of 3/1). 9) MH (could bloom late- lot of baby fat) 10) bond holder- feels like a horse that never misses board but only beats much less... a competitor but not as classy as record would suggest. · 48 days ago ·

  • tmallios1 · First of all Vegas,so called that my name is on the tip of your tongue. You credit the author for mentioning a history tidbit, that i care about as much as a rats rear. This is the author that i mentioned earlier has Chrome in 9th place and Tamarando in 3rd. The great thing is that we all have opinions. But excuse me if i find yours and his ,no where near mine.In regards to history,as important it is and we should always learn from it. When the smoke clears, all it really is , it is what occured yesterday and before.Last i looked,we can never change it. But we do control what i rather discuss, that is the FUTURE. You still have time to right your way of thinking. But if for any chance your opoinion spand thru and extensive network, please keep it under wraps til after the next prep. You see,i am loving it that The Chrome is flying under the radar ,especially with the 2nd stringers. Regardless what the History Quacks tell us. · 48 days ago ·
