What the Nation is saying about Super Saver...

Which way to go in the Haskell? This is the type of situation where you wish you could camp out for a few days at the track to actually see how these horses look and act, coming up to what looks like a very important race with implications towards the  Breeder’s Cup and year end honors. • humphrey · It will be interesting in seeing which of these colts bounced back from the over-exertion the Triple trail causes. Early on, Trappe Shot fits the bill but may not fit the profile too well. ,,,along with the "old" Ice box and Super Saver. · 1 days ago
Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver and Preakness winner Lookin at Lucky are set to headline what is perhaps the deepest field in the 43-year history of the IZOD Haskell, when they go postward in Sunday’s Grade 1 event. Entries will be drawn Thursday afternoon at Monmouth Park’s annual Haskell press ...Read More
Super Saver took round one beneath the Twin Spires. Lookin at Lucky captured round two at Old Hilltop. It was a typically busy Sunday in the Todd Pletcher barn, with the usual list of notables working at Belmont Park on Independence Day.    On the main track, last month’s Grade 1 Metropolitan Handicap winner Quality Road worked an easy half-mile in 48.84.    “It was just an easy ...Read More

  • tweeter · and in regards to not beating Quality Road in the Met Mile he was gaining on him and if other trainers would have taken there shots at him other than ian wilkes with warriors reward and derek ryan with musket man instead of letting him go 45 and change to the half ,, mm might have had a shot to beat him..... john Velasquez was all out to hold him off...5 other trainers were so in awe of Quality Road that they told there jockeys to ride to get a piece.... Musket Mans crew should enter a rabbit if he goes to the Whitney and ensure a solid pace,,,,, · 25 days ago
  • humphrey · Only problem for Musket Man in the Met, was that Quality Road, even after a sub 1:09 three quarters simply re-broke and said goodbye. He wasn't going by then or later. · 25 days ago
The races that will help determine the winner of the chase for 2010 Horse of the Year are still well off on the horizon, but Zenyatta and Quality Road have pulled clear of the rest of the contenders as the field makes its way down the backstretch. Zenyatta has posted three Grade 1 victories this yea...Read More

  • medlocke · I think Shirreffs and Moss have decided they'll take their chance at sealing Zenyatta's greatness by trying to win back to back Breeders Cup Classics. I think right now it's all entirely about the Breeders Cup with them. I don't think they care at all about any glory that Zenyatta could achieve on the way to Churchill Downs. All they want is to get this mare to Churchill Downs in November, as healthy and fit as possible, and hopefully still undefeated to that point. I do, however, think Zenyatta is going to have a tougher row to hoe in the 2010 Classic. Not because it's on conventional dirt. I think Zenyatta's two performances at Oaklawn on conventional dirt show that this mare can handle the surface. It's because there's going to be some much tougher competition this year. IMO. Both Quality Road and Blame are both magnificent colts over conventional dirt. I think Blame could be a very dangerous colt. One that could easily upset Zenyatta's bid, or Quality Road's for a Classic crown. Plus, there will likely be some strong Euro contingent in the race as well. If Zenyatta is able to come east in November, and beat the potential field that's lining up for this year's Classic? Even people who don't like this mare could not logically ever question her greatness. JMO. · 25 days ago
  • humphrey · Put Quality Road in the same starting gate, and the rather thin skinned pace mare will IMPLODE, particularly at 10 panels. The West coast mare can just look at that implosion and may be able to catch HIM. · 25 days ago
