He was lazy when I met him. Mainly laid around. He did get up at one point and walked over to me, and I got to pet him.... http://www.flickr.com/photos/91093795@N00/8665060661/
  • RichChatter · I am jealous you got to meet him. It must have been wonderful to see him, despite his laziness. · 111 days ago ·
  • SSilence86 · It was. I honestly didn't know he was there at Pauls Mill Farm. We went into the stallion barn, and his was the only stall with no head waiting expectantly at the door. lol I read the plaque before I saw him. · 110 days ago ·

We lost so many great sires this year, what a year it has been for breeding
This makes me so sad. Died due to complications of colic. I'm glad I got to meet you. RIP buddy.

  • Buckpasser · Very upset to see this. RIP. Having lost three horses to colic and it's complications, it is an insidious illness and I am always upset when this happens. · 112 days ago ·
  • goblin · Sad news; he was a very nice horse. I hope his few crops of foals do well on the track. · 112 days ago ·
Rest in peace lovely boy.
R.I.P. Summer Bird
I know it's still a year away, but I can't wait until Summer Bird's foals hit the track! I'm still sour over him being sent to Japan. He had great confirmation, a great pedigree, and great stamina by today's standards.

Nineteen up, nineteen down. Zenyatta has done it all. Her quest for a pair of perfect 10s comes in a few weeks at Churchill Downs with the world watching in the Breeders' Cup Classic. While selecting my single favorite race of Rachel Alexandra cannot be done, I can tell you with certainty that there was no race that I loved any more than the 2009 Haskell. Nothing can compare to the fire that Rachel Alexandra sparked in 2009. The passion she stirred was incredible, and even in retirement, she still manages to bring forth love and compassion from her fans.Read More

  • dani.pugh · I never said she was better. I said she had fight. She always did have fight, no matter when winning or losing. No matter if it was on the track or no in retirement. The point was not to say she was better, which i never did, it was to highlight that she is a fighter and always has been. If you wish to debate merits do it somewhere else, start your own thread if you like. But this is not the article for it. Have a good day. · 424 days ago ·

Can someone explain to me why the USA sells alot of our horses to Japan? I really am just wondering. Is it that Japan offers the most money? I'm very curious because we just lost a lot of mares to them as well, and now Summer Bird on top of many others.
