I am pretty pleased DOJ held on to the win. DOJ definitely would have benefitted from SSM tiring down my happy Face before making her own move. While the time was not super impressive, I think DOJ's Tenacity was impressive here, I expect to see great things from her.

Beyer Speed Figure of 78 for DOJ. They set much faster fractions then in the Champagne and ran on the slower inside of the track.

Andy, how slow is Belmont playing this meet? Haven't had a chance to really look, but it reminds me of last year's fall meet. I said on another thread her time should be taken with a grain of salt as it was a match race thanks to the scratches. These two fillies actually ran their second quarter faster than the first, which I almost never see. That race was set for them to come home slower. I was impressed by both fillies, and think Dreaming of Julia give Executiveprivilege all she can handle.

Dani, the rail is NOT the place to be this fall at Belmont and the riders are clearly trying to avoid being there. On Super Saturday there were no lightning fast times being run. It's definitely slower than in past years.

I remember Super Saturday nothing was out of the ordinary, time wise. The best was the Vosburgh, if I remember correctly. There weren't a lot of quick times at the meet last fall either. I realize Bobby ran faster, and while he was in the 2 path for most of the race the chart said he drifted out in the lane. The fractions of that race were also much slower up to the 6f. That race, IMO was one of the most impressive of the weekend, considering it wansn't a truly run race, and both fillies had constant pressure on them due to that fact, and neither caved. One would expect Dreaming to cave when My Happy Face came back to her, instead of being easily disposed like the horses in her previous races, but she didn't. She showed she has brilliance and heart and that is the combination of a champion.

I agree Dani. I just hope Julia has something left for the BC considering she has to ship to the West coast, too. I would love the Stonestreet Fillies to have a big day with My Miss Aureila in the LC, Kauai Katie in the Juv. Sprint, and DOJ.
