Mike Mitchell, who became the all-time leading trainer at Del Mar this summer, has a long way to go for the same record at Hollywood Park. But he is inching closer, despite missing several top runners. A win Thursday by Roman Chic was Mitchell’s 857th at Hollywood; he ranks third behind Bobby Franke...Read More

Trainer Art Sherman said that Ultra Blend showed some signs of fatigue Sunday morning from her winning effort in Saturday’s Grade I, $300,000 Clement L. Hirsch Stakes. But that was to be expected. “She’s always a little tired after each race,” Sherman said. “She puts so much into it, she’s one of th...Read More

  • KyOaksRunner · Blind Luck hasn't ducked anyone yet and I don't think Hollendorfer will do it now, the only reason he would choose the Hirsch is probably so he doesn't have to ship her to meet HDG again. It's more strategy than ducking in my opinion, he's targeting the Breeders' Cup and wants to get her there the best way possible while winning the championship in the process. I personally think she could handle the Gold Cup field. · 212 days ago ·

  • dubby30 · A duck is a duck, you dont announce in the drf that you're going to the Apple Blossom and then make another plan and skip a Grade 1 worth $500k to run in a Grade 2 worth $300k and not call it a duck. Havre De Grace is more mature and is much stronger than she was at 3, it will be interesting to see if BL can make up any of the 3 1/2 lengths she lost by in the Azeri causing them to duck the Apple Blossom for a lesser race. More importantly its wonderful to see Hollendorfer not duck two races in a row. · 212 days ago ·

They all get beat, or so the saying goes. Eclipse never did though. In fact, the English colt retired in 1771 with a perfect record of 19-for-19 because there was no competition left to take him on. • medlocke · St Trinians really likes that all-weather surface at Hollywood Park a great deal. She's run about as well over it as any other surface she's raced on since coming to America. But I just think that Switch's turn of foot might prove to be the difference in this race!! Switch defeated Blind Luck last season at Hollywood Park. Blind Luck is certainly not without a shot in this race. But I think she's about a half-length better on conventional dirt than she is on a synthetic surface. JMO. · 230 days ago ·
