Premier Pegasus: You guys respect me now?
Premier Pegasus' sire Fusaichi Pegasus was the only son of Mr. Prospector able to win the Kentucky Derby. Can Premier Pegasus carry on this legacy?

Jaycito came late and made a decent run in the San Felipe Stakes. But he could've a rocket strapped on his back and still not caught Premier Pegasus in the San Felipe Stakes. This colt was extremely impressive given the suicidal fractions they went up front. When Jaycito came with his run trying to run them all down, Premier Pegasus was still putting distance between himself and the rest of the field when he crossed the wire. JMO.

Pegasus ran light-years better than Jaycito...they were close on the backstretch, but not close at the wire. Yes, the setup was good... but how likely is he to get a fast pace in the Derby?

always have! i like the pegasus blood line, because they really don't have a set running style. they can adjust to to the situation, or atl least premier and champ pegasus havve. anyway go premier pegasus!

I noticed him on this Mdn win and been gradually following his races since. He seems very versatile..something I like to see for a KY Derby contender.

His San Felipe Stakes win is by far the most impressive race I've seen of any Derby contender yet during their 3yr.old season. If that race had actually been the Derby? Premier Pegasus could've limped home the final 1-1/2 furlongs and still won. That said, not very likely at all that he'll get that kind of blistering pace to run at in the Kentucky Derby. Nobody's going to send their colt out at Churchill Downs to run suicidal fractions like they did that day at Santa Anita. For if they do, their horse will be likely to finish the race.

I am not sold on Premier Pegasus yet. I have a feeling that his romping San Felipe win was the result of a complete pace collapse along with nobody else firing. Everything went perfect and he earned a decent 96 BSF, which puts him on par with Soldat's FOY. He paired-up 96 BSF's in less than three weeks and may be peaking too soon.

He was in with sprinters who couldn't get the distance and got one of the most perfect trips ever.He has to do better than that to be a serious triple contender.

I've been around this colt his whole career, he is a Monster-type. Loves to win, knows where the wire is. 7f not his ditance plus he needed a race that day. Still looking back at the replays of that race he ran very well. I do believe he has what it takes to win the Ky Derby. And I think you'll get odds as he is not the flashy type, very overlooked. He may well turn out to 'freak' in the Derby. I LOVE this colt !!!

dude p pegaus is a beast as i said before can run where he needs to. and with all the speed in the derby should take a nice spot wating for the chains to break to hit the board. so what if he used pace to win at sa. isn't that what closing is all about? wait for the race to fall apart?

I agree blooy...when the pace was sizzling..Pegasus was content to say behind and make his run after the 1/4 pole...if the pace is not fast in the Ky Derby or in SA Derby..I can see him being versatile enough to stay up closer (if need be) and still make a nice kick home.

I was there when his daddy won it! I like this horse a lot! Has a great pedigree and shouldn't have a problem getting the 10f Derby distance. He has the tactical speed and he gets plenty of stamina especially from his BMS, Summer Squall and The Axe. I think he's starting to peak and he could run a big one come May 7th.
