  • Sullivan · Reminds me of California Chrome. There is a good story about Cordero hopping on a plane right after to ride in a 100k and then losing the mount when he got there · 1092 days ago
  • travel_vic · It was the colt who won that race in that fashion and mentioned many times that it might occur that way after he went 6 f faster than sprint champion Eillo at the Breeder'd Cup the year before. THe COLT not the rider · 1092 days ago
This Monster had 15 starts-10wins.3 seconds,2 thirds for 4.2 million. he got beat in the breeders cup juvenile running 3rd. Can anyone tell me how he amassed all that money. He didnt even run in the preakness or belmont and was retired in mid 1985 the same year he won the ky derby. Garden State must of had some kind of Bonus Structure as he won there 3 times before and after the ky derby. he even ran 2nd in the Haskell.(Im stumped) $4.2 million was alot of money back then where did it all come from??/ Anyway he is Scary similar to CA Chrome in their running styles

  • travel_vic · another thing in Am Gabolottis colt's favor was the only other speed in the Deby missed the break so Angel was alone on the lead. He had run his MILE 6 furlong time at the inaugural Breeder's Cup Juvenil ( the very first Breeder's CUp race) in a time faster than Ellio's sprint victory that very same day. It showed what powerful speed that one had even though caught by Cheif' Crown and Tank's Prsopect at the line but only by 1 1/2 lenghts · 1141 days ago

I am only 26 and was not alive to see this horse run but I have watched some of his races including the Kentucky Derby and it was one of the most visually impressive and effortless looking Derby's I have ever watched. I know he skipped the Preakness to run for the big bonus in the Jersey Derby but other than that I don't know much about him. We've all heard his name but where does he stack up against "the greats". What was the opinion of him when he was racing? I recognize some names in the Derby he won, but what was the strength of that Derby field?
