As I go through and look at the potential contenders for the Derby and the Oaks and their pedigrees, it gets me thinking – if money wasn’t an issue and I owned a mare, which sire would I have her bred to?Read More
  • cocoa2 · Speightstown seems to be based off his wives, as far as distance goes. Haynesfield was out of a distance running mare while Speightstown's sprinters are usually out of sprinters. He is a good pick for any mare, but if you're looking for a colt who wants 10f and the mommy only wanted 8f, I think Hat Trick or Street Cry would be your man. · 68 days ago ·

This has been a really nice year for Speightstown. Winstar should be proud
If he can find a real nice English distance mare and their colt runs on dirt... maybe this time?

  • Capper · Last year Pameroys Pistol looked to me as a one-dimensional front runner, but its nice to she has the ability to relax and finish. It looks like big things could be coming her was in 2012. · 554 days ago ·

I kinda liked Haynesfield; he seemed to be the clear speed of the field with the only question being if Rail Trip would be able to press the issue in his real dirt debut and wearing an aluminum pad. But everyone was saying that a son of Speightstown couldn't possibly win at a mile and a quarter, and...Read More
Franny Freud has had very few slips in her career; in fact she has never been beaten sprinting on the dirt. While Speightstown, who had cost Eugene Melynk $2 million as a yearling, made his debut in the care of Todd Pletcher at Saratoga in the summer of his juvenile year, it was four years later that he won his first stakes race, the Artax H. at Gulfstream Park. This win was the first of five victories in...Read More
