What the Nation is saying about Speightscity...

One way to look at Creative Cause’s third place finish as the 1-2 favorite in Sunday’s San Vicente at Santa Anita is that it was the perfect prep, just enough to knock the rust off while setting him up for a successful stretch back out to two turns, around which he won the Grade 1 Norfolk and was a ...Read More
Withers runner-up Speightscity is likely to make his next appearance in the Gotham on March 3, according to Marcelo Arenas, assistant to trainer Gary Contessa. The son of Speightstown proved the best of the rest in Saturday’s race, finishing 1 ¾ lengths ahead of Tiger Walk.Read More

  • DeadHeat · I think Speight will be better prepared to run than he was in either the BCJ or Remsen. He had a good race at the distance and track in his last, so other than a bad trip, a poor performance coming from him will have no excuse. IV is dominating, I wouldn't be surprised to see him take this in the least. Shacks little bro is a big colt, and may take some time to get used to that gigantic frame. I think he'll only get better with distance and age. Alpha is a deserving favorite, but this is far from a slam dunk. · 142 days ago ·

The winner of Saturday’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile will immediately be made the favorite for the 2012 Kentucky Derby. • Cigar16 · Win or lose I am happy for Michael Matz to have a live BC starter. And a 2yo to boot! Business is business, but I for one was shocked when Roy and Gretchen Jackson pulled their horses from his barn this past Spring. I can only imagine the emotions that were dealt with after that blow. BUT, what a hell of a great way to bounce back! · 208 days ago ·

  • DeadHeat · Speight IMO is the horse for Union to watch, not alpha. He ran very big over a very tring and very slow track. For a two year old to run in a race 9f that early is different and good. Could the competition have been weak? Yes, it is a strong possibility. However, if the colt is good enough the 9f foundation he has will give him a big edge over those, like Union Rags who are stretching out. · 233 days ago ·
