I think this horse has a chance to upset. I believe the poor trips may have compromised his chances a bit. Possibility if he works well up to the TB Derby.

  • icyhotboo · "Orb won, but Violence ran a better race. adaman" Along with Danni's eplanation I agree... I don't know exactly if this was the point in time that Violence became hurt, but in the stretch he pretty much stopped running, then when challenged he came on again, this I've seen many times in many races, but is me or was his stride different at that point? · 113 days ago ·

Think the Fountain of Youth is Violence's to lose? Not so fast! There is plenty to like in some of the less chalky entrants.Read More
  • marylandgq · Glad to see you think "outside the box" as well Ashley. Seems like folks believe that TAP is going to have Violence "cranked-up" for this one, when IMHO he won't be. Why should he? The FOY is just a stepping stone to the ultimate goal (KY Derby). · 116 days ago ·

Both Derby preps on tap Saturday, The Fountain Of Youth and Risen Star Stakes are similar in that the Morning Line favorites, Violence and Normandy Invasion make their 3-year-old debut, and are expected to win. If you wager on them to WIN, you may regret that descision. Read More

I think SL had a valid complaint in the Sam Davis.
There are three (3) Derby prep races on Saturday... The Withers @ Aqueduct, Robert B. Lewis @ Santa Anita and Sam F. Davis @ Tampa Downs. All 3 are graded, carry a purse of $200k and run at 1 1/16 miles, yet only 2 out of 3 award the all important "Derby Points". Read More

  • icyhotboo · "I agree 100% about picking & choosing your spots, but as a service to HRN readers, I provide my opinions on Derby preps as well as MD races. To think that in every one of those races, my opinion MUST NOT be the M/L favorite is insane."Gary Quill/Yes, your position is much different than someone making a wager only for themselves. As you stated you have other considerations which would seem apparent, but obviosly there not. After a while you'll get used to having to explain what should be an easy assumption. I'm a little tired so I didn't look at all your plays but, your selection and wagering structure on the SAM F. DAVIS was something I especially liked. Hope you don't mind, but if you did, or were to wager on that race privately (SAM F. DAVIS) without regard to your article, would you have included the superfecta? Anyway nice job. I'll keep you on my radar. · 134 days ago ·

  • marylandgq · @icyhotboo; To answer your question, YES. I play what I post, so the Sam Davis play was a nice hit. As far as SUPERFECTA's, I don't play them.... never ever! Just not my style, but thanks for pointing out that I should have had the SUPER based on the horses used in my TRI. · 130 days ago ·
