Brereton Jones’s Believe You Can, with regular rider Rosie Napravnik aboard, looked like she would, then looked like she wouldn’t, but finally did win Saturday’s 45th running of the $500,000 Fair Grounds Oaks, the 3-year-old filly counterpart to Sunday’s $1 million Louisiana Derby. Read More

  • Floridaf · You made very good points about Yara and Zo Impressive in regards to some of their previous races. Personally, I think Disposablepleasure is much better than her 4th place Davona Dale finish would suggest; just look back to her gritty win in the Demoiselle. I believe the match-up between Eden's Moon and Reneesgotzip will be the best of the weekend in the 3-yo filly division. Maybe we can get another BL/HDG rivalry going. Great analysis, Brian! · 747 days ago ·

  • BrianAppleton · Thanks Ashley! I agree with regard to Disposablepleasure. The Davona Dale was her first race of the year and I think she will benefit off that effort, but I don't think she'll get to the top two. All of these fillies are coming into the races looking really good. · 747 days ago ·

Gainesway Thoroughbreds’ odds-on favorite Small Kitchen broke in full stride to make the pace and drew off late to give Fair Grounds defending jockey champion and current leading rider Rosie Napravnik her fifth winner of the afternoon in Sunday’s $49,000 feature.Read More
Gainesway Thoroughbreds’ Small Kitchen, reserved just off the pace of the early leaders in Thursday’s $46,000 Fair Grounds feature for maiden sophomore fillies, gained the advantage entering the lane and drew off the rest of the way for a 5 3/4-length score in the six- furlong sprint.   Trained...Read More
