Thats a terrible top 16 list rafirox honestly. Everyone and there mom has revolutionary on there list. Bern Identy just got back to work tab and is shooting for preakness last i heard. Vyjack not on your list I bet you he jumps in on everyones list after a race like that that further proves he can go two turns. Ive Struck a Nerve you call him a fluke yet still have him as one of the top 16 3 year olds? whattttttttt Tix the truth second? Hes injured wont make derby follow the trail better. Park City 2 sprint races 2 wins he will not have enough time to make derby. And last goldencents unlike vyjack cant go farhter then 1 1/16 so hes no derby horse. Srry this is me being a real critic cause wait till bloodhorse drf and all thoes major horsemen bring out there lists and compare.

I cant say what goldencents can and cant do? vyjack was undefeated before the gotham by the same sire with the same run type untill yestarday and goldencents wasnt undfeated both graded stakes winners and you left vyjack off??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? thats crazy if you like golden cents you should of liked this horse just the same. Lets look at who vyjack beat in his first 3 starts and lets see who goldencents beat in his races. Vyjack beat orb-foy winner -clawback stakes winner always in a tiz- graded stakes palced. As for goldencents he beat no one in his madien in the champagne he was ahead of who??? horses who all are off the trail or ahvent impressed yet. Personally, I am reserving my judgment of ISAN until after the LA Derby. Desormeaux changed his running tactics for the Risen Star, so I would like to see if that was the real reason for the improvement or if the RS was just a fluke.

Going out on a limb there w/ Palace Malice, rafi. Good to see. A few I'd throw off and on would be ISAN off, we hardly see longshots like that come back and win. Departing on, he has to be one of the best semi under the radar's out there. I wouldn't have a problem dropping Bobby as well. With IMLD and Orb probable for the FL Derby, SB may not even make the derby. I'd drop him for Demonic or Revolutionary. Sorry wasn't slaggin' your picks:)

So heres my list. 1) Flashback 2) Orb 3) Balance the Books 4) Itsmyluckyday 5) Uncaptured 6) Vyjack 7) Verrazanno 8) Palace Malice 9) Dens Legacy 10) Revolutionary 11) Code West 12) Oxbow 13) Normandy Invasion 14) Goldcents 15) Fortify 16) Treasury Bill. We have 8 horses that are different. I cant recall a derby in recent years that was so wide open in early March. We could all come up with a different #1 on our list

Sorry. At least I am not a loser hiding behind a computer screen, trashing other's picks, too wimpy to post their own. @PP. Yes. I m going out on a limb with Palace Malice. We are in March. Tcglory acting like these picks are "wrong" or "terrible" is ignorant. I really liked Palace Malice's last performance. He came from behind the pace, and showed new dimension. Had trouble in the stretch (bumped, drifted, lugged), looked very green. Palace Malice, imo, is one that will dramatically improve with experience. As for Revolutionary, I know I am in the minority. However, I don't think breaking slowly is a good attribute for the derby, nor is traffic prone. Notice tcglory is laughing at me, and laugh at me all you want... But, personally, while Revolutionary is a good colt, I don't think the derby conditions will fit him. Good horse, good pedigree. Like him a lot, not for derby. @Buds. Thank you. I agree completely. Lots of wise cracks by people who won't put their list out. I like your list, wish you the best in the wagering aspect down the line, and during the trail. @URR. I put Bern on there just for you, lol. :)... Hopefully he can return with a bang. Is he a G1 horse? I don't know. But, for sure, if healthy he will be a good colt down the line at whatever distance. That was a gutsy call to leave both Overanalyze AND Vyjack off this "Pre-Gotham" list... I LIKE IT! WHY? Since when does one's "Derby List" have to include those that are "likely" to break from the starting gate on the 1st Saturday in May? My list (GQ's Derby Double Dozen, from Feb. 9th) doesn't have many of those who will likely RUN for the roses, rather my intent was who IMHO could WIN the race (if they happen to be good enough or sound). Less than 60 days from the Derby, what do people expect? Bravo you your effort.

He did it. He's been my favorite since February when I saw him greenly come home in the Risen Star. He's impressed me because of how green he was and how much he kept fighting. He had no chance in the Derby, but I think he could have contended (as I said afterward the Derby)... Tcglory, you look stupid now. Not that you don't always.

(Sullivan = cocoa, just verification :) ) Itsmyluckyday is clearly an exceptional miler, and I think he could take that further and be an exceptional handicap horse. Pimlico Special, Donn, Itsmyluckyday has a lot of talent from 8 to 9.5 and I think as he gets older, even the BCC shouldn't be out of reach. I wish we had a stronger contingent of handicap races.

Nothing decides the winner of a matchup ... they only matter in getting to your final 16, 8 and so on. For example, you cannot have Orb and Shanghai Bobby both in the final four, because these brackets will not allow that.

murillo91, Print out Brian's brackets, or if you have kids that use up cartridge after cartridge of printer ink, use printer paper, maybe several sheets to copy the brackets with the horse matchups Brian already has. I labeled each section top left, top right, etc, but you can label them by Brian;s headings. Then, go from there picking which one you think is the better of each pair. Keep narrowing down your picks from 16, to 8, to 4 to 2, to the final Derby "champ". It is set up so that your top two might not be possible to wind up the final two in this contest.

Dr. Jenna, to me Rosie has the drive that I would've had if I was the size to be a jockey. I have all the respect in the world for her. When I graduated HS I weighed 155 lbs. I was a regular fan at Louisiana Downs and they had a leading jockey there named Ron Ardoin. He looked like he was almost as tall as me then (5'11). I went on a diet trying to get to 124. Only made it to 149. Anyway, I have two re-occuring dreams even to this day. One is riding horses as a jockey, and the other (unfortunately) is about rattlesnakes. Lord knows I wish I was small enough to ride.

I feel ya on the rattlesnake recurring dreams;) I have nothing but the utmost respect for Rosie- she's a great rider and a great ambassador for the sport:) I was very impressed with the interview...I loved it when she refused to do the "smooching noise" on national tv. FInally got around to wathing it. I was pretty dissappointed. Not really with Rosie... (Though she did seem pretty ... cold?) Mostly just with the questions asked. I wish it had delt more with actual horse racing, then pondering on gender discrimination and asking how much she weighed. He father's mustache is pretty epic though.

As I said, I was not upset as much with what Rosie said. SHe did the best with what she was give, I just wish she had been asked different questions. It was 35 minutes of gender discrimination with 2 second random clips of horse racing.

I wouldn't characterize Rosie's demeanor as cold at all, or even reserved, really. To me she seemed to be projecting a sense of dignity, which I believe she actually possesses, and was probably attempting to maintain lest she come across as silly or "girly" to those who would want to find fault. I wish the questions had been more about horseracing in depth, as well, but that a national news program featured the subject at all is fairly remarkable. Someone above commented that Julie Krone will be considered the best female jockey of all time---the jury is still out on that.

I can understand if Rosie seemed cold. She's in a sport that is runner by males. Especially, in KY where male chauvinistic mentally was originated. They fight hard for excluding women arising in the racing field. She has an attitude of survival. In order for her to stay on top of the game, this is the way to make it. Many have tried but failed to get the respect of their male counter parts. It's reality in racing that is slowly changing but not there yet..

I love these stories. (not really) Who cares if shes a she, he , or an it. Out here in California we could give a shit if she was an elf! The fact is she a damn good rider. If it was a man we wouldnt use the word cold, we would say confident, cocky, ect. The best thing is now Mylute will take a whole bunch of undeserved money, cuz people want to bet on "the girl jockey", I say great, give me my horses at a better price. This same thing happened a couple years ago when Pants on Fire went off at 7-1 when the horse MLO were 20-1. Bring in the dumb money. More for us!

I will have to agree to disagree with you buds. I never said he would win the MC Mile- just that he would be a serious contender if he comes back healthy. And just because there are other horses that might be good as well at a mile- doesn't mean they will enter the BC mile. I would think Beholder would most certainly enter into the Ladies Classic not the BC Mile. I honestly don't think Goldencents or Super99 would touch Bobby. Itsmylucky day I think is better at anything over a mile. But I believe until Bobby races at a mile- AND LOSES- he is still a champ in my book

Like ruffian said- BC CONTENDER. Never said he would win- just that he would have a decent chance. I agree IMLD could probably beat him at a mile if the factors were right. Bobby's career did not end at two- he still has a lot to learn and a lot more to give

sad indeed. Especially when much less caliber horses are entered. But as much as I love him I just don't see him winning it. There are too many horses that could go either way. Although I do think he deserved a chance- if fully healthy, and is Pletcher actually would have had him ready. Seems like he had too many horses to concentrate on this year, and I just don't think he had Bobby in the top shape that he needed to be in to seriously compete with the quality 3 year olds we have this year.
