What the Nation is saying about Shackelford...

I honestly think that todays Travis only shows that this horse needs a new trainer and jockey.

  • lsbrilliance77 · I'm saying I think Animal Kingdom will show it's Greatness, Mucho Macho Man to show you and me what it's mad of, Stay Thirsty to come in with the best of them, Prime Cut on his tail, Nehro n 2nd, 3rd Master of Hounds, Shackleford after that. Hold on let me look again, that was just off the top of my head. Ruler of Ice is not a bad horse and it has an ok starting position. · 1040 days ago ·

One is measured in hands, while the other, in feet. One towered over his opponents with unprecedented size and strength; the other beats his foes with speed and courage. One's career has just begin to reach it's zenith, as the other bids farewell to a Hall of Fame career. No matter how you spell it,...Read More

He is wonderful, we couldn't be happier. We watched several times this year at Gulfstream running his heart out and felt he deserved to win.

  • cugel the clever · Zatt said "Astrology has been beaten consistently by lesser horses, he's a possibility to turn it around, but I can't bet him". Nonsense. Astrology is one of only 6 horses in this race who has won a graded stakes race. And that six does not include Mr.C. Astrology has also placed 2nd in three other graded stakes races in his career. He belongs in this race more than does most of the field. I pick him for 4th but won't be surprised if he's closer. · 1062 days ago ·

  • crazy horse · Mr Commons is my LS play along with Sway Away. I don't know why anyone would be more than a little worried about Dialed In, Astrology or Midnight Interlude and I'd be very worried about Flashpoint. Have you seen what Wesley does with 1stW/Trn? Of course, the only way he or any other front runner will win is if they run :47 or slower. · 1062 days ago ·

It’s not always the case to say the best horse won the Kentucky Derby, but after watching Animal Kingdom roll down the lane yesterday to win the 137th edition of the Run for the Roses by an ever widening 2 ¾ lengths, I would have a hard time saying that anyone but the winner was the best horse in th...Read More

  • El Kabong · They won't stop him at old hilltop. Turn up the fractions, he'll still be there. I looked at his turf splits at GP, 3/3/11 and he was coming home on decent splits in that one mile race. He has better turn of feet action than I originally thought. As Gary Stevens said right after watching the overhead replay."This horse is going to love Pimlico with his running style and the way he quickens up." Should be exciting. Who'll be there with him? Nehro needs a break. Mucho looks like a plodder best for Belmont. Shackleford, prime candidate to bounce. · 1073 days ago ·

  • El Kabong · Right now, I like Mr. Commons and Astrology to run on under the AK at Pimlico. Hats off to Neumeier for providing yet another beautiful derby moment when he asked crusty Barry how many trainers had lied to him....."PLENTY!" fired the old curmudgeon.Neumeier's reply was great...."Barry Irwin, Honest Guy" · 1073 days ago ·

As unpredictable as this season’s Derby Trail has been, I feel like I should attach a disclaimer to my final rankings before the 2011 Kentucky Derby … but that’s no fun. So here they are, my thoughts on all 20 horses (better make it 21 just in case.) Because of the near impossible task of separating...Read More
