medlocke · Congrats to Summer Bird. I thought Quality Road would win this race, and he did run very game, but S.B. brought his "A" game today. And now, quite frankly, could be looking at HOY honors. I know everyone has been screaming Rachael Alexandra already has it sown up, but B.S. I say. Aren't victories in the Belmont, the Travers, and the JCGC just as impressive of a resume' as victories in the Preakness, the Haskell, and the Woodward? Now with Rachael shunning the Breeders Cup she's left the door wide open. What if Summer Bird wins the B.C. Classic. I think the Classic trumps the only other important victory R.A. has over S.B. winning the Ky. Oaks. If S.B. wins the Classic and isn't crowned HOY over R.A., then something is terribly amiss. gardenesque1 · Don't really think Summer Bird can get HOY over Rachel because she ran the table this year and spanked him in their lone meeting. He deserves to be 3yo champ. He seemingly moves up on a wet track and still got squashed on that footing by Rachel. Not arguing his strong record, but Rachel had all of the buzz this year, and fair or not, that will even trump a Cup win by the Bird. Besides, he will not win the Classic anyway. · 165 days ago
