What the Horse Racing Nation is saying about Sepoy...

Hello to all from Dubai. Normally, we are quick to put together post-race thoughts on the full gamut of activity from the 2012 Dubai World Cup, but given the emotionally charged nature of the day, both powerful and challenging, we thought it best to let our thoughts settle for some time. We do not v...Read More

pulled the entire distance yesterday, he's a big lad!
Sadly, Sepoy finishes a shocking 5th in the Oakleigh plate

For us Sepoy fans out there (and I'm sure there are many despite recent comments), he returns this Saturday in the Oakleigh Plate. But this will be no easy task--at 58kg, Sepoy would be the highest-weighted three-year-old to win the Oakleigh Plate, surpassing the 57kg record set by the great Fastnet Rock in 2005.
A great horse!

Top Aussie sprinter Sepoy (as opposed to champion sprinter Black Caviar) has been given Dubai Golden Shaheen target, while Helmet will be aimed at the UAE Derby, reports indicated today. A horse wearing the Godolphin blue has never won their premier sprint race. They landed last year’s Derby courtes...Read More
  • ILuvTurfRacing · I don't think it's a big stretch to say that Black Caviar and Sepoy are arguably the 2 best active sprinters anywhere in the world right now. But I find it rather odd the 2 have seem to have avoided racing each other like the plague on turf in Australia, and now they're both likely going to end up facing each other in the same race in Dubai on a surface that neither one has ever raced on before? I'm not sure if that's a bigger benefit to Sepoy or Black Caviar? But I guess we'll find out on March 31 once the G1 Golden Shaheen has been run. · 111 days ago ·

Peter Snowden had nothing but praise for super colt Sepoy despite his narrow win in the Group 1 $500,000 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) at Flemington yesterday. "The margin was small, the effort was huge," he said. Read More

  • footlick · @RuffianLourdes- yes he was nominated, but his connections have said he won't run in it. Maybe they will change their mind. As yukichan said in the above post, they want him to win the Coolmore. · 224 days ago ·

Black Caviar may be the queen of the sprinting world, but the greatest threat to her dominance may soon come from another fleet runner from down under. Yesterday, Sepoy bolstered his standing as the second best sprinter in Australia in a big way, as the three-year-old son of Elusive Quality dominate...Read More

  • yukichan · In today's Australian news, Snowden was quoted as saying the Coolmore Stud on 10/29 would be Sepoy's last race this Spring campaign--of course plans could change which is why horses are often nominated for races that they may not ultimately show up for, just to keep options open. Snowden went on to say that a BC/Sepoy meeting could happen in their fall campaign (our US spring), before sending Sepoy to Europe. http://www.theage.com.au/sport/horseracing/another-win-but-sepoy-gets-no-black-caviar-20111015-1lqn6.html · 224 days ago ·

  • yukichan · It is unlikely that a much anticipated match up between Black Caviar and Sepoy will happen this spring campaign (as in Southern Hemisphere spring). Sepoy will run in the G2 Caulfield Sprint on Caulfield Cup Day--the goal is the Coolmore Stud Stakes at Flemington on October 29. BC will run in the G2 Schweppes Stakes on Cox Plate Day, and in the G1 Patinack Farm Classic two weeks later at Flemington on November 5. You must check out Sepoy's win in the Manikato Stakes (G1) against older horses. Missed the start, yet won so impressively! · 234 days ago ·
