What the Nation is saying about Sea The Stars...

“She was a useful race filly who gave the impression of not having much heart…but she descended from an exceptional family…I went to look at her. She is not elegant, but she has an exceptional body. I was seduced.” These were the words of Michel Henochsberg, told to Paris-Turf and…Read More
A recent column by Horse Racing Nation's newest writer, Bill Heller, really got me thinking. In the piece, Heller told of his first ever trip to a thoroughbred racetrack. As luck would have it, him and his buddies were treated to one of Secretariat's earliest powerhouse performances. The race was th...Read More

  • MBPhipps · I recently rewatched the video of Secretariat winning the Belmont, and that brought me to tears...again. But I couldn't possibly decide on what I would have wanted my FIRST race horse experience to be. As it stands, I can't remember who it actually was! What I am grateful for though, is the fact that my years around the track have included visits to the winner's circle with some of the finest horses in their class the country. · 191 days ago ·

A lot of comparisons being made between Frankel and Sea The Stars these days by racing fan's in the UK. Over a mile, maybe Frankel could have run with Sea The Stars? Maybe? But from 10 to 12f, forget it!! No way Frankel could have beaten Sea The Stars in a middle distance race. Sea The Stars took the step up from a mile to 1-1/2 immediately, and took it in stride with no problem. Frankel has yet to be raced beyond a mile? If Frankel is really the beast that most believe he is? Why hasn't Henry Cecil tried him beyond a mile yet? Even if Cecil didn't believe that Frankel would stay the 12f at Epsom for the Derby? Being the son of Galileo, who won both the Epsom and Irish Derbies, Frankel should at a minimum stay 10f standing on his head. TJMO.

It will come as a shock to the US racegoers that the rest of the world rates five-year-old Goldikova as the best racing female in the world. She was rated in tie with Rip Van Winkle last year at 133 just below Sea The Stars at 136. Though she has won both her races in 2010, I suspect the handic...Read More

There is no way of telling what might have been in any given race had circumstances been different. • Rossington · I watched the replay of the Coral Eclipse Stakes. What the author of this article describe's did happen, but it happened rather early in the race. The bottom line is when both Sea The Stars and Rip Van Winkle were slugging it out down the stretch, Sea The Stars reached back and got a little more and suddenly accelerated just enough to clear Rip Van Winkle and win the race. But I will say that Rip Van Winkle looked just as equally impressive to Sea The Stars that day in that race. · 823 days ago ·

  • Medlocke · This was one fantastic race horse. I hate that we won't get to see him perform in the B.C. Classic, but I completely understand his ownership making the decision they did. He's won all the biggest races on the European continent and really has nothing left to prove. Imagine what this colt is going to bring for a stud fee. I don't blame them, why keep racing and risk injury. They're smart to be retiring him at the top of his game. · 843 days ago ·
