Worked out at 6f in 1:12.00. This one just plain gives me the chills. Cant wait to see him in that gate again.

  • LAZMANNICK · Thanks ghelguera. The Oceanside is on turf I believe which IMO is where he should stay. I hope if he doies as well as we expecvt that they point him to the G1 Secretariat Stakes on the Million card in August. As he does you Lisa, this guy really excites me. · 170 days ago
  • Lisa111 · Wow! I am also very happy to see him next week on turf. Perfect. Thanks Ghelguera! Laz, you were right all along, I just had Belmont dreams on my head during the trail. But yes, the Secretariat stakes is the goal. What a horse!!! · 170 days ago
Hey Laz! They finally got it right with the Gorgeous Boy!! Only took them a year to figure it out!! No stopping him. He is the real deal, always was!! Nice payout for a top notch MONSTER!!!

  • amino998 · You and Hofmans started out in basic agreement {dirt try}, you differed on the Last chance at the Derby prep site and the Desert Code race. I {and the crowd, he was 6/5} liked his chances of putting a sprint stakes win on his resume. My guess {and hope} is that your and David’s future plans for School will coincide better. · 206 days ago
  • amino998 · oops... better coincide. · 206 days ago
$20 WPS and in a boxed tri with CaliChrome and Candy Boy. Good Luck.

  • Sullivan · Dead last against far weaker under the usual Joe Talamo aspiring to be Fred Taral ride makes me think that something is up... horse physically looked better than last time and ran worse. I wish they had waited with this horse. MSW may have come too early if ankle injury came right after. Good luck in the Kentucky Derby. · 263 days ago
  • rafirox · Great call Laz and Lisa. I'm hoppin' on the bandwagon. Let's just hope he remains healthy enough to race. · 207 days ago
Now we know he is a completely different horse in turf routes and with Blinkers, what a win!

  • LAZMANNICK · Actually Lisa pointed this guy out to me late last summer and I’ve been a big fan of his ever since. It looks now like he’s over his issues and has figured out what it’s all about. I hope they keep him on the turf and point to the G1 Secretariat as I really believe that this guy is the real deal. · 207 days ago
  • rafirox · Congrats to Lisa. Hope y'all made a nice pile of cash on this race. Probably will get another race in before then. I think this guy is top class ... I'd like to see him point to the G1 Secretariat, too. · 207 days ago
Faces older Saturday in a NW1X @ SA 1 1/8th on the turf -- Launching pad onward and upward.
  • Sullivan · Speaking about onward and upward, wasted no time in getting back, especially against older. Just one other 3yo in the race · 209 days ago

on March 22, Schoolofhardrocks worked 5F at Santa Anita on Fast Dirt in :59.20 h finishing 4/56.
Was pushed to the lead in the opening furlong. NOT his running style. Then they backed him up and he had too much to make up. Speed biased track. Let's see how he does in a different spot... maybe Arkansas Derby? Not a bad performance for his 2nd start.
  • vodkak · After only 1 race there is no running style established yet. · 290 days ago

Schoolofhardrocks, a good two year old and my number one Derby hopeful at this time that Tmallios and Lisa put me on to last year, is continuing to work lights out. His latest work was a dandy, 6F in 1.11.40. Though I don’t usually put a lot of faith into workouts, I still like to follow them to see if a horse is fit and if it works regularly. This guy has been working regularly and he seems to be fit and ready to roll.

  • LAZMANNICK · Ya Tom, Lisa woke me up too. I usually check once a week to see how this guy is progressing. I'm a fan of longer works because when I see them I feel that the trainer is serious. If this guy doesn't hit the track soon, I would like to see them sendi him a good mile. Please nothing less than 5F. Can't wait to see him return. · 301 days ago
  • tmallios1 · Laz,the way they are working this guy like a Marathoner. His next race, wherever it is,will be the tuneup for the Santa Anita Derby. · 301 days ago

Saw this one break his maiden, evenm had him to win. He's got all the talent in the world. Can't wait to see him race again! One of my top Derby picks for sure.
on February 13, Schoolofhardrocks worked 5F at Santa Anita on Fast Dirt in :59.00 h finishing 1/6.
My Derby favorite Schoolofhardrocks is finally back on the work tab and has completed four works in good time in the past three weeks starting at 3F in 36 flat to 5F in 59.80 a couple of days ago. All his works were on Santa Anita’s dirt track and all were handily. I stressed dirt because in his only start he won a 1-mile MSW in 1.36.85 at Del Mar last August, coming from well back (8 lengths) and closing his final 2F in 24.50. He made a big move on the turn and ran away from the 3-5 favorite, Southern Freedom (a 2-turn race). It is interesting to note that the MSW was split. In the second division New Year’s Day defeated Bondholder who was second and Candy Boy 4th, with NYD’s final 2F .5 seconds slower. Schoolofhardrocks was scratched on the morning of the G1 Frontrunner with an issue and eventually laid up until now. I really like this guy as a Derby horse (my frontrunner at this point) as his Dosage Profile, DI and CD are favorable. He also has turf ability in his family and could develop into just about any kind though I think he’ll be a big time router if he stays healthy.
on February 8, Schoolofhardrocks worked 5F at Santa Anita on Fast Dirt in :59.80 h finishing 11/55.
Glad to see he's back on the track. This one has Belmont Stakes written all over him.

  • UnionRagsRules · Love this colt. Watched him break his maiden (which is quite rare for me) and even had him picked to win. Always loved Rock Hard Ten, but who can't resist a big black horse :) This colt is awesome. · 325 days ago
  • UnionRagsRules · Also saw Midnight Hawk break his, and also had him to win. I like both colts, but I favor this one! · 325 days ago
