What the Horse Racing Nation is saying about Rumbo...

Rumbo, the colt with the second fastest final fraction in K Derby history, is one of many colts that were just too late for that race track. These are great underneath bets in exotics, but they BURN MONEY in the win column like Rampage, Pyro and others that are just too far back to make a significant move. Think of it: first time the distance, first time that weight...It shows as it did with the really qualified Afleet Alex who was too late for the Kentucky Derby profile..Sweetnorthernsaint was another too late...Add to the fact that after all that exhaustive running against a pace thier riders can only guess, they have to weave their way through huge fields of mostly slowing down colts....the odds are really stacked against these types, even Lookinforlucky, as talented as he was, was a bit on the late side and it showed after being unceremoniously cut off early....be very careful with these types that catch the field somewhere around the clubhouse turn the SECOND time around.

  • travel_vic · If you use BRiS pace classifications, it shows just how little you ACTUALLY KNOW of energy distribution as it has NOTHING to do with POSITION. · 17 days ago ·

  • travel_vic · Energy distribution is the expression of HOW a horse DISTRIBUTES, via feet per second of each segment compared to the sum of all three fractions taken as a percentage. Its calucation has nothing to do with being positional, only lengths that are considered beaten lengths behind the pace setter of the fraction in calculating the velocity in ft/sec of that segment.....TIME, weather the race went in 1:08 or 1:12 is therefore IRRELEVANT since the distribution is based upon percentage in each segment. TOTAL enegy differentiates the final time differences. · 17 days ago ·
