Met Mile Dreamin’ - Caleb’s Posse vs. Mucho Macho Man
With Kentucky Derby fever in full flight, fans are clamoring for Union Rags – Hansen II. I’m all for that; a real honest to goodness rivalry through the Triple Crown would be great for our sport, but a couple of performances this past week have me very excited for the potential of another match-up. ...

Tough call. Caleb's Posse loves 7-8 furlongs, and MMM loves 8-9 furlongs. A flat mile could go either way.

What a trio .... here's my call, Shackleford is pure from 1 mile to 1 1/8th, CP flat out 7f to 1mile, and MMM 1mile to 1 1/4th ... at 1 mile a fresh Shacleford noses ot CP and MMM just starting to run makes them both sweat.

I think Mucho Macho Man might hold a slight advantage at 1 mile. He's obviously improving and I think his running style would give him an edge over Caleb's Posse's "dead-last" rallies.

Chris, I felt the exact same way about MMM. I look forward to seeing him build on the foundation he established at Gulfstream. Wes, I completely overlooked Horse of the Meet. As I stated, there really was not a true standout, but if I had to choose, I would select Mucho Macho Man. Ron the Greek flattered his Sunshine Millions win with a score in the Big Cap, and MMM beat a couple of tough competitors in Jackson Bend and Tackleberry in the Gulf Cap. It sounds biased since we all know how much I like MMM, but it also makes sense if you look at it logically.

I should also add, Wes, that Jackson Bend went on to win the G1 Carter Handicap next out over a deep field.

Horse of the Meet is now officially included! Matt, it was a great meet, and I was fortunate enough to see both the Swale and the Gulfstream Park Handicap. Later this week I will likely have a piece up on the Derby chances of the seven colts you named.

I know Mr.Dickey nursed Flat Out along and made something of him, but I hope Mr.Mott can get a few good races with him, if he can turn this potentially fast router around. imo the Eclipse winning filly is the best in Mott's barn. Nice, easy win for THAS today. Good to see another now older male coming back well.

It is time to move the Big Cap to earlier in the year, maybe switch the Strub and Big Cap and run the Big Cap in February. Santa Anita can't compete with the 10 million World Cup and todays trainers want 6-7 weeks between races. The Big Cap is too great and historic a race to be overshadowed by the World Cup. By the way I think they are making a mistake by skipping Big Cap. Game On Dude loves Santa Anita, the track is perfect for his racing style and with the Breeders Cup in California he could have a big shot at Horse of The Year. The World Cup knocks a lot out of a horse, how many horses have won the Breeders Cup Classic after running in the World Cup?

I didn't think MMM had a 107 Beyer in him, but it was a nice performance. I know GP has been known for some freakish performances, but its encouraging going forward that MMM can also take his show on the road. For Awesome Feather to dual into those fractions and keep going was sensational. I would still like to see how it would've played out had Delightful Mary not ran up her backside on the far turn. But take nothing away from Awesome Feather, she didn't have things her own way & still turned in one hell of a performance.
