What the Nation is saying about Ron The Greek ...

Bachalard must be doing cartwheels over the results so far....
A NIGHT of near misses for Godolphin ended with the ultimate triumph as African Story led home a one-three for Sheikh Mohammed's operation, with his brother Sheikh Hamdan owning the second Mukhadram. Trained by Saeed Bin Suroor and ridden by Silvestre de Sousa, African Story chased Mukhadram to the ...Read More

  • Euro Trash · I just checked in before I left and saw this so I will answer before going out. They do tend to change the content whether they want it to retain more moisture or less. They can add fibers to it from what I have read in interviews with Michael Dickenson. But the reason the course is not the same during racing compared to when they do their gallops is the heat. The hotter their weather becomes during the day before racing the more tiring the surface becomes. I personally think that Goi Ponti ran great races there considering he probably was not fond of the racing surface. For that reason, I still cannot back Ron The Greek without some turf or synthetic form, with graded turf form being my number one criteria. Have a good night. · 22 days ago ·

  • Northport · I read something similar to that as well, EP. I remember Baffert saying that Game On Dude skipped over the track in the mornings, but it was very taxing on him (obviously) at night. With a track that waxy and deep you'd have to assume that it is nice and firm in the morning after cooling down all night. By the time the meets start at 7pm-ish local time, it has had the sun beating down on it all day. The fact that it is black doesn't help much either, I imagine it would be blistering in the middle of the day (not like anyone is on it at that time anyway) · 22 days ago ·

  • Cedar · True, but the previous owners weren't just selling a race horse they were selling him as a breeding prospect. Since the amount was undisclosed, I'm sure they received more than a fair price for him. · 44 days ago ·

  • rafirox · Love David Jacobson and Drawing Away Stable. They are classy folks, all about business and are quite respected around the game. Jacobson's placement in horses' (class) and his care are top notch. If he feels he should run a certain horse often, so be it. • tmallios1 · Laurie, thank you for bringing out the Pink Elephant into the fore front. It is a joke how some of these guys claim horses at bargain basement prices and raise them to heights of winning stakes races. Then they are hailed as heroes. Amino said it best,The feed program is so much better on the other side of the fence.Smokey was one of the unlucky ones. So many more are left to the outside. Not only herein NY,but at other tracks. An absolute joke when trainers are almost winning at 30% or over. Oh yeah,i definately believe they are sharper than others and know how to place their horses. Same nonsense with Blinkers on first time. That is the corporate line. The real line is that they finally did what was needed to be done. · 99 days ago ·
