Question of the Day! who was the best son of Secretariat? Risen Star, General Assembly, Chief's Crown, or Kingston Rule?

  • LAZMANNICK · Kaitline, I missed where you said son. Sorry about that. Lady's Secret, because of her longevity, was Secretariat's best and most accomplished for sure, but I also think that Risen Star was one of the more underrated horses in recent memory. · 966 days ago

I think he could have done more.. Dellahouse did not ride him well in the Derby! Waited too long or we would have had another triple crown winner. He was a lot like his dad. And had an exception mom
  • travel_vic · The Derby with all that un necessary traffic, is a crap shot unless you are very good and very lucky......Secretariat's son had the ability and not the luck that year....A two time winner, and a class money rider, hardly EVER put in less than a good ride. · 1605 days ago
  • travel_vic · ANY time a horse comes from far out of it, LUCK has a big hand in the outcome. Out front, YOU control the pace, you pick the best part of the track, you make your move when YOu are ready. ANYWHERE else you just react to some one else. · 1605 days ago
sorry, should be an exceptional mom!
A very good horse. Ranked way too high. The 80 to 100 range sounds closer to reasonable (than the top 40).
  • icyhotboo · I personally don't pay to much attention these ratings. Many people vote the same horse high or low many times. Really not a valid reflection in my opinion. I've seen Secretartiat ranked a #3 out of 10. Zenyatta/Rachel ones, ridiculous. · 1742 days ago
  • icyhotboo · BTW:I've only rated about 20 horse total and suspect that many other members do the same so all horses arv't given appropriate consiseration · 1742 days ago
His career was too short, but fantastic runner. Not quite sure he should be this high.

  • RamonDimas · i think he should he won the PREAKNESS AND THE BELMONT! · 1903 days ago
  • Protagonist · Larry I need to correct myself, in that it wasn't Lady's Secret that Risen Star ran against ,but Winniing Colors when she won the Derby in 1988. and for Ramon Dimas s' info speaking of great fillies of the past as you do above this listing you might want to look up one of the best years for fillies and mares at the BC look up 1988. What a race you have Winning Colors, Goodbye Halo and Personal Ensign! What a TREmendous Preformance Personal Ensign gave that day ,in the slop,at Churchill Downs! INcredible,Sensational, Wow! are the best words in the English language that describe what Personal Ensign did that day. · 1902 days ago
