Older Comments about Ride On Curlin...

on July 5, Ride On Curlin worked 4F at Churchill Downs on Fast Dirt in :51.00 b finishing 40/51.
This guy is all class. Unfortunately bled. He'll definitely be back better than ever in the summer.
According to Gowan (trainer) Roc is fine , he's ganna get 30 or 45 days off.
Another victim to the demanding Derby and TC schedule--he bled and displaced. Being examined...

  • buckpasser · Thanks Goblin. I thought that was what I read. · 1026 days ago
  • tmallios · CC had to run in The Belmont Stakes. ROC & GAR had absolutely no reason to be there today. I wonder how many times in the future, either of these trainers will run their horses 3 times in 5 weeks. · 1026 days ago
Is ROC O.K. ? Does anyone know ?
Good luck and have safe trip ROC. jlp
on June 1, Ride On Curlin worked 7F at Belmont Park on Fast Dirt in 1:28.03 b finishing 1/1.
Can anyone tell me when the last time a Sire sired back to back Belmont winners? Thanks.

Will go one better this time and succeed for his father Curlin

  • CauseForConcern · This one seems very close to knocking on the Grade I door. If that door should be opened, this could make into another one of those Affirmed/Alydar, Sunday/Silence/Easy Goer rivalries. · 1040 days ago
  • Sullivan · Good thing about this guy is the owners won't retire him, and he is sound as sound can be. Should be a force next year · 1039 days ago
Huge fan of him. Huge fan of Curlin and a fan of just about any Curlin runner. Even better when they are competitive on the big stage. With that being said, I believe this horse will be quite competitive throughout the summer without the presence of California Chrome at his every turn.
I think it's very telling that Joel jumps off ROC and gets on Tonalist.

  • goblin · Jon Court had surgery for his fractured hand on May 19th, so he is out for a while. Don't know when Rosario made the commitment to Tonalist, but Johnny Velazquez at Belmont is not a bad choice for ROC. · 1041 days ago
  • tmallios · Johnny or Joel. How can anyone worry about the move. They are the same rider. · 1041 days ago
Yea Gents, I understand the concern about the jockey but Johnny V. is as good as it gets ! jlp
Nothing " official " but I heard that Johnny V will be riding ROC in the Belmont. jlp
Picked the one and two finishers in the Preakness, had it the same as I had for the Derby. Just glad ROC finally was able to quiet all the haters. I knew he was better than his 7th place finish in the Derby suggested. So proud of the way he rallied in the Preakness, even if he wasn't catching Chrome- he gave it all that he had. He is a nice horse and I look forward to seeing him develop in the future. He is also more exciting to watch for me than Palace Malice due to his closing run style. Hope he runs second to Chrome again in the Belmont!

  • Sullivan · He ran well and apparently came back well too. Belmont and Travers look good - if he's not too tired. · 1044 days ago
  • tmallios · read the thing again,it had nothing to do with you.Did you read the header before you posted · 1044 days ago
ROC ran a very good race ! !

  • Sullivan · "chief earner" usually means chief earner which I couldn't believe seeing as how well Palace Malice was doing. Now I understand. Thank you. · 1047 days ago
  • goblin · PM has earned $1,961,135 at this time, but only ~$480,000 has been earned this year. ROC should be beyond that by tomorrow; as I said, I'll check it in the A.M. · 1047 days ago
Of course congrats to CC's owners, trainer and jockey. He is an absolute phenomenal horse. I was blessed to be able to see him in person. I just wanted to point out how well ROC ran. Anyone that knows me knows how long I have liked this colt -- and I believe I posted about him on this site. This colt ran lights out today. Made a beautiful move on the outside and ran his heart out like always. He might not be the best colt, but IMO his consistency, durability, versatility and heart is very admirable. He just got BEAT by the BETTER horse today .... and CC deserved to win. I'm a gigantic fan of both these colts. Congrats to both of them. I'd like to see both go in the Belmont. I was truly blessed to be up and close to these two in the mornings and see them run live. Anyone who has emailed me knows I picked these guys 1-2, and I'm proud of both of them, notably ROC.

  • tmallios · When did you pick ROC at a young age. I posted him on the site 2 weeks before he ever stepped on the track. You jumped on the bandwagon after his debut at CD. Anyone could see he had a future after that race. · 1047 days ago
  • rafirox · *yawn*. someone's looking for attention, hmm? Post your novel now, I'm going to bed. night. · 1047 days ago
Good luck in the Preakness ROC !!! jlp
Worked 4F in :49.60 this morning.
Stupid ride, waited with on rail,no room taken around the whole field 2f. out never place to challenge. Look for better run next time out.
ROC had a great run in the Derby the 7th is a real measure on how he did.... Bad post... blocked and came running late.... new jock on board in Baltimore... feeling good about it, dont care who else is there

  • Ruffianlover · This horse finished remarkably for the trip he got. Really disagree with the call for Rosario. I think Calvin's ride was just fine and he suits the horse better. With no other races left calling for 20 horses, this horse hopefully won't be running into traffic problems anymore. So glad this is such a talented crop this year. Can't wait until the injured ones come back to join up too · 1057 days ago
